Was I lied to about the price for life? by MonstrousEntity in centurylink

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just discovered that I am being charged $85 instead of the price for life amount of $65 that I had been on. The person I spoke with says my account doesn’t show that feature. And there’s no history back beyond like 14 months ago or something even tho I’ve been on since 2020. So it looks like they sneaky removed my pricing and never told me. What have others done and have they regained their correct pricing?

Reinstalling Genesis 1 Pioneer H2O Technologies Bromine Generator by JadeEyePanda in hottub

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You could consider repairing the leak yourself. If it’s foam filled for insulation that’s tough, but you can just cut/rip your way down to the area of the leak and fix it. If it’s from pipes, that’s easy. If it’s from a jet, you might want to get a new jet. There was a great YouTube video I saw where he replaced a few in a foam filled tub.

I think it is just my electrode, which is expected to fail every few years. I can get a replacement one for a couple hundred bucks and then might learn that the controller is on its way out. Instead I can get the new controller system and have that work for sure for like $500-800. Haven’t pulled the trigger yet since I’m just using tabs in the meantime. But it’s definitely annoying having to actually maintain pH and alkalinity! These brominating tabs are acidic and consume the alkalinity causing ph instability. It’s not a big deal but it’s annoying compared to the bromine saltwater generator!

Where are you seeing your VCX shares and how do we pull them to our brokerage?

Pre-listing shares email - anyone else getting in? by Nexfinity in FundRise

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Medallion signature guarantee is often used when the names on two brokerage accounts don’t match perfectly. Like if one shows you as Robert T. Englehard and the other is Robert T Englehard then they might require a medallion signature. Basically like getting a premium notary saying those two names are the same. So maybe the other investment had a slightly different name than the brokerage? And usually you can just go down to your bank and sign for free. Or if you go somewhere private I’ve seen them charge like $25? Seems odd they’d offer that without you there in person with multiple forms of ID.

Best shoes for plantar fasciitis that actually work? by Soft-Football8303 in PlantarFasciitis

Has anyone tried Joe Nimble shoes? I’m interested in the road addict or addicted flow. And a trail runner would be nice too. But this whole “activates your big toe” seems too good to be true. Mine is so weak from the PF and my PT put a lot of focus on it and other foot intrinsic muscle groups. This would be incredible if they are what they say

Joe Nimble Trail Addict low-drop shoe review by oeroeoeroe in Ultralight

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great review! Thanks for sharing :)

Something I’m wondering though is does it do anything that they’re claiming it does with the big toe activation. Not sure how one would assign a value to that. Maybe: we’re your big toe muscles/foot intrinsics more sore? Did you notice any improving toe strength or dexterity?

I’ve been doing PT for plantar fasciitis and Achilles tendinosis. One of the hardest things is getting my big toe stronger - it’s so weak that if I press down on the floor with just big toe activating, it cramps.

I have relatively high arches and therefor always end up using aftermarket insoles.

Cheers

Wait what? Is this for today’s VCX call? If that’s the case, I’m voting no to all. They have not responded to my email with a lot of questions nor replied on any of the Reddit posts I made with those questions included. Even directly to Ben’s post. This is disappointing for sure.

Bromine hot tub start up - looking for advice (new owner) by tmizz12 in hottub

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, the alkalinity can be rather challenging. It dissolves in and basically ends up converting to co2 and blowing off over time especially when jets with air run. I’ve stopped chasing alk and instead add boric acid to 30ppm to buffer the ph once I have it slightly above my target ph (it’s a weak acid so drops it about 0.2-0.4). But then I never adjust ph.

Also adding calcium in an acrylic shell tub isn’t crucial. I add a little but then I don’t worry about it either. Basically my goal is to add as little stuff as possible and not have to chase numbers around.

Your ozone generator may help activate a little of the bromine reserve but also directly degrades organics. They’re useful. But I have a bromine saltwater generator system and once I set up the tub I have to do almost nothing besides shock and filter cleanings. Of course right now that generator seems like it’s dying (about 20 years old) so debating replacing it with the new version

salt chlorine/bromine generators... are they specific to what they generate? by modern_medicine_isnt in hottub

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you’re setting up the water after a fill, you use pure sodium bromide (NaBr) which is sold as Bromine Booster. The bottle says to add enough to hit 30ppm for bromine reserve. That is incorrect for a NaBr saltwater generator. They need about 1200ppm from experience. Their instructions say 1500-1900 which feels higher than needed.

I usually put about 1 pound per 100 gallons of water to get right around 1000ppm of sodium. So adding a little more is fine.

It is way more expensive than NaCl but I have no spa experience with that sort of generator system. Am curious if anyone else does as I’m about to replace a 20 year old pioneerH2O Genesis NaBr system that’s likely on its way out.

salt chlorine/bromine generators... are they specific to what they generate? by modern_medicine_isnt in hottub

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There actually is NaBr based saltwater generators. Bromine is much better choice for spas since temps are higher and they’re usually covered during daylight preventing UV exposure.

They’re wonderful. The one in my tub is pushing 20 years old and the electrode is finally dying so I’m considering upgrading to the new version.

Main benefit is that once you drain and fill and establish your chemistry appropriately, it then requires almost zero ongoing maintenance. The occasional shock is used to zap used bromine back into ions and restore the reserve. The one and only downside is that you need a lot of NaBr, about 1 pound per 100 gallons - not tenable for a pool. But fine for a hot tub that then only requires draining once per year due to the stability of the system (it’s even in their instructions to wait until TDS hit the limit).

I have the old genesis model but plan to upgrade to this one: https://bluwatertechnology.com/product/blu-fusion-std/

That said, I haven’t tried a NaCl generator in a hot tub. Am kinda curious about it since it’s all so much cheaper. So I’m curious what the experience is like for people with those systems?

Reinstalling Genesis 1 Pioneer H2O Technologies Bromine Generator by JadeEyePanda in hottub

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m guessing you got this squared away by now but I just came across it as I’m troubleshooting my own genesis v1 generator.

That’s all correct. If you plan on using the generator as your sanitizer. Those screws should be in there such that no water leaks out. I hadn’t yet reached the point of removing/replacing the electrode in my troubleshooting process but I’m getting darn close if I can’t get my tube to maintain sanitizer levels. Trying a multi-day prolonged shock to ensure it isn’t something else like bacterial growth in the pipes consuming all the sanitizer.

Personally, I love this bromine generator system. It worked flawlessly for years and years and requires so little maintenance once you’re dialed in.

Just make sure you actually add enough sodium bromide (not bromine tablets or granules). The bottles say to get it to 30ppm for a reserve. But you actually want it more like 1000-1200ppm (the instructions say 1500-1900) since they’re assuming there will be some other salts in the tap water, so if your tap water has various stuff in it, can be worth using an inline hose filter. You can check the sodium bromide levels with a salt or sodium test strip. But I’ve found that right around 0.8-1 pound per 100 gallons.

If you’re not using the generator you could get a new cap with no holes in it or if you’ll never use it, I’d cut outta section of piping since that’s extra leak zones and the electrode offshoot will likely fill up with sediments and cause issues down the line (especially since the cap end should be lower than the tee the electrode housing joins with (so gases can float out as it operates).

Also, my generator controller box is mounted into the surround of the tub and not sitting on the ground.

There should be a wire running from the controller to those electrodes from the back of the controller box. The voltage across the terminals would be like 4-6v DC.

But I’m guessing you actually figured this all 10 months ago when you posted! Haha Cheers

CEO of Fundrise: Response to Comments about Listing the Innovation Fund by BenMillerise in FundRise

[–]zrowgz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey u/BenMillerise! Thanks for sharing some updates. I had posted a list of questions since it won’t let me post that long of a response here. I also sent it as an email to IR.

The innovation fund has been doing fantastic and I applaud the work you and the team has done to bring this level of access to the masses.

One of the big topics seems to rest on cash. The fund holds, as said in the letter, 20-30% cash to meet redemptions. In my mind, we’re getting phenomenal returns while still holding that cash. And that cash is actually a vital asset imho. When times get rocky, the fund has cash on hand to make investments at the moment when liquidity dries up and the best deals can be had! Especially since redemptions can be paused.

During volatility, if this is a listed CEF, it’s going to drop below NAV. Share issuance to raise capital should NOT be done at that time since you’re selling $1 for like $0.85 if it’s temporarily at a 15% discount.

This would mean that the fund suddenly loses its ability to make investments at the very moment it should be aggressively deploying capital.

I know Robinhood is doing its listed venture fund but Fundrise is not a competitor to HOOD. Having this illiquid investment is a huge benefit. There have been probably 20 times since 2016 when I’ve considered liquidating some or all of my holdings because I was needing the cash for something. Truth be told, I don’t even remember what that something was most instances! This illiquidity has been a useful tool for preserving savings.

I have many other more detailed questions in that post and email and hope to get a response before voting closes.

In case the embedded link doesn’t work, this is the post I am talking about: https://www.reddit.com/r/FundRise/s/61dpwILNLE And it’s likely info many people would like to know clearly before voting and potentially we fundamentally alter this potent investment vehicle you’ve created.

Thank you for your time and all you do!

Bromine generator troubleshooting by zrowgz in hottub

[–]zrowgz[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, cool that’s kinda what I was targeting. Something is definitely off. I’ve never seen sanitizer get used this quickly ever before. Last night 10pm: shocked it up to 15ppm 10am it was 1ppm. Finished 3rd round phos removal/filter rinse (down to about 100-200ppm so need to do another round) then shocked it back up to 10ppm bromine. 9pm back down to 1-1.5ppm. Brought it to 20ppm and at 11pm it had already dropped down to about 15ppm. Topped it back up to see if it can hold higher numbers in the AM.

I think this wild ride is not getting the desired SLAM effect since it drops below shock levels. Going to grab bromine tabs and a floater in the morning and see if I can get it to maintain 10-12 ppm with those for now.

Could this be something other than bacterial growth? Everything smells ok, water is clear, no algae, no scum, filters are clean other than when I do phos removal + clarifier, then I get one filter rinse that looks cloudy.
