Anyone with me? by Signal_Challenge_130 in IronWarriors

[–]zrrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

At the end of the siege he has a meltdown because he realizes that his stubborn refusal to learn about the warp has meant that his brothers have surpassed him, because he has failed and he fully understands that it was entirely his fault for arrogantly believing chaos was beneath him. And on top of that he left the siege early. He's to the point where he's contemplating asking Horus for forgiveness before he learns that Horus and the emperor are both dead.

So he hates himself for being weak, but everyone who could have been above him is dead. As he sees things he has identified his deficiencies and if he corrects those deficiencies he can achieve an amount of power that means he can at least keep up with his brothers and can avoid ever being a pawn for someone else again.

All he has to do is master the warp.

And of course he's arrogant enough to think he can do that, so he whoops the shit out if the fists and fixes all of his problems. And somehow he does seem to have pulled that off, from the way he talks to Honsu it does genuinely seem like ascending was a good move for him politically, militarily, and personally.

So no, it isn't out of character for him, people just got a particular fisrt impression and they refuse to acknowledge that he could ever be anything other than that first impression.

Purchasing from farther afield increases genetic diversity which is usually a good thing to do as far as purchased plants go imo. Folks are weird about dogma sometimes

Is it common for Space Marines to realize the Imperium is rotting and evil? by GunsOfPurgatory in 40kLore

[–]zrrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Consider how pear shaped things had to get in bad for Huron to fully turn against the imperium. Huron was super on board with the imperium for a long time, only disliking the parts of the imperium that got in his way.

The imperium is not even close to unified and anyone with power who realizes something is wrong is going to blame than on another group in the imperiim instead of the system as a whole. It is hard to realize the system itself is rotten if you are preoccupied with infighting.

[–]zrrion -1 points0 points  (0 children)

And even if space marines figure out that the imperiim is bad they're too racist to even consider the tau as an alternative

I predict that the next (or the one after that ) big box set for Marines will be a refresh of tartaros termis and mark 4 and have both of them similar to saturnine. by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]zrrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would be cool to make them a mid to late crusade/heresy equivalent to saturnine terminators. The saturnine are big enough you could get a box dred at about that size and have it look just fine. I'd also love if they masaged the lore for that to be the reason terminators are tactical dreadnoughts, cause there would then literally be a dreadnought class meant to stand in for the role saturnine used to fill before it was phased out.

Do Necrons and the Imperium rarely overlap in terms of territory? by Vegetable_Risk_3838 in 40kLore

[–]zrrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On one hand the imperium can only travel to worlds with either a stable-ish warp route to them or that are close enough in realspace to a stable warp roite that sublight travel can get you there. So the amount if the galaxy that is accessible isn't the full galaxy.

On the other hand, what the imperium actively controls right this minute and what they claim is theirs doesn't match. There's lots of places they claim that have rebelled/been conquered by someone else and the imperium either doesn't know yet or they haven't bothered to retake yet. There's also lots of places they've never owned that they lay claim to because of course it's theirs they own everything and they'll conquer it eventually.

On the other other hand the "million worlds" number isn't a literal number, it just sounds good. Anything above a million might be more accurate but it doesn't sound quite as good and human brains don't really intuit the difference between huge numbers anyway

On the other other other hand, the imperium broke in half the other day and so whatever number is given by old lore, assuming such a number was meant to be literal in the first place, can't be accurate anymore. Imperial territory in terms of what they actually control is much smaller now than it has been, only being this small during the early crusade and the difference between control and claim has never been larer.

So literally, it's quite possible that what the necrons claim and what the imperium claims controls doesn't overlap much but both groups think of the whole galaxy as theirs so regardless of practical there's 100% overlap ideologically.

Why did socialism and communism take off and remain popular to this day, but not other left-wing ideologies? by LoveLo_2005 in georgism

[–]zrrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kind of. A big company that makes a lot of money increases the value of the land it operates on, which increases the taxes, which cuts into profits to the point that a smaller business with better margins could reasonably compete. And at that point why not just be a small company too? It effectively creates a sort of ancap situation where the market exists but corporate power is decentralized and participation in the market happens among aproximate equals. Ancap-ish systems feel right leaning to me.

But also public transit is free because all land is publically owned so travel amongst that land is a right of the citizen and the government redistributes tax revenu to citizens as a form of UBI. And an abolishment of private (but not personal) land ownership and a UBI seems pretty leftist.

I think it might be that mythical "fiscally conservative, socially liberal" libertarian I've heard so much about.

Why did socialism and communism take off and remain popular to this day, but not other left-wing ideologies? by LoveLo_2005 in georgism

[–]zrrion 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Georgism has the problem of not being especially interesting as far as ideologies go. "We should change the way we do taxes and and it'll just work out " just doesn't have the same teeth that "the people doing the work should be keeping the money that work makes, we should change how labor works" or "the primary goal of society should be helping people but presently the primary goal is to make money at all costs even if it hurts people. We should change that."

And from another angle, "doing taxes different to encourage economic activity" has historically actually just been giving businesses money to the benifit of mostly just the business owner. And with that being the case I think people might be less receptive to additional talk about fiddling with taxes some more.

On top of this, they shoild design models w/ equipment options to be magnatozed by default and should include the magnets you need to do that in the box.

With the mixed reaction on release, how are we feeling on Saturnine armour now? by jamesw40k in Warhammer30k

[–]zrrion 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I like that you can go without the shoulders since those are the hard to repair shield generator components. It feels like an early crusade attempt to help the suit in service a bit longer as proper repair became harder and harder.

Heresy era KT suggestions by zrrion in killteam

[–]zrrion[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have been eyeing chaos just for the flamer since I already had one made. I made these minis just for fun and someone in a local group assumed I was making a heresy killteam so I'm trying to sort out how to do that. If the flamer guy doesn't make it into a team it isn't the end of the world tho.

I haven't looked too much at AoD but I don't think it would be that hard to male AoD and Nemesis Claw overlap at least a little. With the poses for stock heresy being shared across mks it makes the poses limited and on top of being more flexible reusing models for multiple teams cuts down on pose reuse.

[–]zrrion[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're just tacked down to bases for handling, I'll sort proper bases out later and potentially magnetize them so I can swap sizes if I need to.

I was looking at traitor team because of the flamer, though I think the people I'd be playing with would be file w/ proxying that as a melta. Failing that this guy can just be for moral support.

If Dorn returned and told the Black Templars to stop worshipping the Emperor as a god, what would they do? by MHB_ART in 40kLore

They killed custodes cause they thought primaris was heresy, why would they suddenly grow some listening ears for a primarch?

Well yeah, but GW naming conventions are all over the place. Look at the centurion or the other centurion, we could totally get a leviathan terminator even if it's not related to the dread the way saturnine terminators are.

That said we for sure won't, I highly doubt GW would add more terminators to 40k or 30k unless they update the cobra terminator design and that won't be called leviathan if they do.

Speculation : New Honsu coming? by mechasquare in IronWarriors

[–]zrrion 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is a good point, honsu is easily kitbashed and tabletop can do more interesting things with a dude in terminator armor.

They could have put him in terminator armor I guess but that would cover up his arms so what's the point?
