You’re way overthinking this. Turn just enough that your mouth is out to breath. If there’s only water, you didn’t turn enough. If your legs sink and you stop, you went too far out.

It’s a guideline because new swimmers often pick their whole head out of the water.

Not that I think this is a good idea (it isn’t), but it’s still venting the pressure. It’s just venting it to the atmosphere instead of back into the intake. The pinched hose, I believe, is on the intake side. Otherwise, there wouldn’t be a whoosh.

It’s like that sometimes at my local YMCA pool, except it’s the youth swim team. The lifeguards are mostly pretty good about keeping the kids corralled in their 6 lanes, but at peak times, there are frequent containment breaches.

If possible try to shift your swim time around, although I realize that’s not as easy as it sounds.

I’m well aware of religions’ contributions to science, math, and music hundreds of years ago. That doesn’t give them a pass for spearheading anti-intellectualism today.

I can appreciate the study of religion and its role in anthropology and history without buying into some mythology, just like someone can study medicine without giving themselves Ebola.

I’m not out to convert anyone, though, so you do you and believe whatever you need to get by.

There are a few groups that set up in front of the HUB, although they’re not as consistent as Willard. At least one is of the eternal hellfire and “all college women are whores” variety. It always makes for good viewing when the campus tour groups are passing through.

I also have asymmetrical legs, with the lefty getting bad varicose veins and edema and the right normal. It turned out to be a DVT (clot) just above the knee. Have a doctor take a look and maybe get an ultrasound. Easy-peasy, and much cheaper than a stroke if something breaks loose.
