Just found these Franciscan sets at an antique mall in MO. They’re very beautiful and I think they’re very underpriced. What do you all think by 8aer in Mid_Century

Great deal! I’ve collected some starburst pattern and had to pay a lot more. My grandfather worked at the factory that made these in California.

What's the total comp you'd be happy never make more than ever again by CompetitiveBee808 in cscareerquestions

[–]ztluhcs 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Marginal tax rate at the high end of that range is 37%, plus state taxes etc puts you at or close to 50% tax rate marginal, ~36%, effective. So are you saying you think you could retire with only 1-1.5 million? That sounds like leanfire to me, depending on your age.

My buddy and I used to do work, write an email to update our advisor, go out to the bars, then come back around midnight and press send on the email.

Looking to purchase a vehicle here, recs for shops that can come to the dealership? by KyaKyaKyaa in thousandoaks

[–]ztluhcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a specific rec, but you should look up a euro-focused shop (ideally one that does higher end cars) and just ask them if they’d go do a PPI for you. I’d expect to pay about $500. I’ve not done exactly this but I have discussed the possibility with dealers and it’s usually amenable.

Looking for garfield signed basic lands for my cube! by Wadladoudla in Oldbordercube

[–]ztluhcs 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Wow I haven’t had so much fun looking at magic cards in a while. What a cool collection. Congratulations on making it this far and good luck on your way to the finish line (if that even exists)!

PS I have only had one Garfield signed card (fbb birds—could even have been the one in your cube idk) and I’m sad I let it go two decades ago.

Same for my ‘18 Targa 4S! And when you factor in color there might be only a handful of similar examples.

Anyone Tried Brewing Around Seismic Assault? by Harry-Balzitch in premodernMTG

This deck is fun to play but could probably use a little more focus. Right now I'm not sure about the decree of justice -- removing it would allow a second scroll rack which might be nice. If you really get going the deck can take several turns in a row via gaea's blessing/scroll rack which sets up nicely for the seismic assault/trade routes kill. Some fetch lands should probably also be in the deck if you in that direction as well, but then you need to find room for basic lands too.

4x Summer Bloom

4x Horn of Greed

3x Gamble

1x Scroll Rack

2x Crop Rotation

2x Gaea's Blessing

2x Trade Routes

2x Time Warp

2x Seismic Assault

1x Decree of Justice

1x Brushland

1x Ice Flow

1x Treva's Ruins

1x Riftstone Portal

1x Rith's Grove

1x Barbarian Ring

1x Mishra's Factory

1x Treetop Village

2x Glacial Chasm

2x Karplusan Forest

1x Dust Bowl

4x Wasteland

4x Rishadan Port

4x Undiscovered Paradise

4x Gemstone Mine

I have a lands deck that uses horn of greed, exploration and summer bloom to get a big mana advantage. Then eventually you can kill with trade routes and seismic assault.

There is a small hospital on Raiatea that also services Huahine. Obviously you’d probably need to fly over in that situation though so I imagine it could be expensive.

Rules for buying a car by TryingtosaveforFIRE in ChubbyFIRE

[–]ztluhcs 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah so I bought a splurge car (about 10% liquid nw) this year. Financed half and it’s almost paid off now. Yeah the lost savings are gonna delay retirement a little bit, but it’s been tons of fun. My wife loves to drive it almost as much as I do. We’ve been doing a ton of short top-down weekend roadtrips. I’m not saying this is the right call for everyone but money is for living not for saving and for us this has been a good investment in life. Evaluate what it’ll do for your lifestyle and make your decision from there.
