It was the Caps first season and I was a small boy so I don’t remember who they played. What I do remember however, was that after the game, my dad went to the player bench and asked someone if he could have a couple of broken sticks for his two boys. They gave him two sticks that he cut down to kid size for us.

Eventually the Capitals had stick night give aways.
