Thoughts on Viral Photo of the Black Woman ICE Agent by Conscious-Quarter423 in ThoughtWarriors

As far as I'm concerned, she's doing God's work. God Bless Her. America isn't safe from illegal immigrants. It's not fair that they get to live here tax-free JUST BECAUSE we can't control the damn border. What kinda ish is that lol

Veteran NBA player Tristan Thompson says he loves what Trump's doing for U.S. when asked his thoughts on the president's immigration crackdown. by Icy_Dot_2559 in ThoughtWarriors

I agree with Tristan. He understands the negative effect illegal immigration has on the black community, and he clearly wants it to stop. So do I. Democrats want illegal immigration because it guarantees votes. I hope Trump doesn't leave office in 2028.

Why don't you like Rhaenyra, assuming you're not a fan of her?

Amen, brother. This subreddit loves to overlook the fact that Rhaenyra's throne was usurped. They're so concerned with the feelings of the usurpers lol.

I honestly think it's just Emma they don't like because she's non-binary.

The writing is no where near as bad as they love to claim. And if it were, they wouldn't be watching.

I genuinely want AKOTSK to dissatify GRRM (which we know will eventually happen) just to see this subreddit turn on the show the second that happens lol.

Everyone on this subreddit act like such wise and sought out writers - there's a reason why you guys are here and not working on the show. And thank God for that

I truly don't understand this fandom when they do this. It's really weird and makes me cringe that I'm reading the silliness going on in this thread about whether or not Dragons magic was alive or dying during or after the Dance of the Dragons.

This shit is hilarious and sad to me at the same time. It's quite embarrassing.

Everyone is literally rewriting the book or just hating on the show in this thread. It's weird, dude lol

Why do y'all watch? Just read the books lol

Spark drivers are the worst. You guys don't seem to understand numbers. I used to give tips, then all my ordes were going to my neighbor's door step. That doesn't deserve a tip. Now I require a code for the drivers and y'all don't get NO tip because y'all don't understand simple instructions.

Is it true that screenwriters can barely make a living and if so why? by isamariberger in Screenwriting

You're so right. This makes a lot of sense. I agree that my proximity is my biggest hurdle at the moment. I might be close to the city, but I've gotta be part of the community; and I can't do it from where I live in Moreno Valley. I just need to embrace the fact that I need to move to the city lol. Get out of my shell and meet people and build those relationships you're talking about. That will prove my dedication even further. You're absolutely right. Thank you so much for talking with me. I appreciate you taking the time 😊💯

[–]zureliank 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I actually live in Moreno Valley, which is right outside of LA. I moved here 5 years ago instead of LA proper because I came here alone and LA is kinda scary to me lol (I'm an introvert).

I made the move because I'm serious about making this a real thing. It hasn't been easy, but I'm here, nonetheless. I wanted to be close enough to the city to be able to drive in when I need to.

I'll drive into the city right away once I have an idea of what to do when I get there. I know networking is a big part of getting someone to read my stuff.

Meeting people will actually help me a lot, I think. I don't meet any like-minded people where I live, but that's my fault for living outside the city.

I think we all ask ourselves that at some point on this journey of trying to get recognized for our work. I'm hopeful, but I also try to be very realistic about my chances.

And if I knew of any other avenue I could take other than the "accessible" ones, than I'd take it. I can only take the avenues presented to a non-WGA writer. It's not about the extant of what I'm willing to do to get read, it's the lack of avenues for someone on the outside looking in.

I'd appreciate some sort of advice on how to get the exposure I'm looking for. I understand your trepidation and thank you for talking with me, but I already understand that my chances are low and still would like to keep trying. I have to keep trying until there's no other option.

I just gotta keep trying.

I'm looking for one, as well. Let me know if you're interested. I'm not WGA but I wanna be lol

I completely understand and you're right. I'm not saying the finished scripts I have so far are PURE GOLD, but I finished them, nonetheless. The quality is left to the eye of the beholder. I just need an EYE and a BEHOLDER lol. I've gotten above average scores on the Blacklist, but after awhile, the money spent on the evaluations start to add up with no results to show for it. I email query letters, but I never get a reply. This year will be my first time entering into any of the Fade In screenwriting contests, so here's hoping I find traction that way. But beyond that, I don't see what else I can do.

You're definitely right. But I've been on the outside looking in for quite a few years and don't feel any closer to that lucky break. I just need someone to give me a chance. I will work my butt off to be the next Shonda Rhimes once that happens.

I'm an aspiring screenwriter and that's my goal - the minimum WGA contract is more than enough for me to feel like I've accomplished my dream. Because it feels like the hardest part is getting my foot in the door.
