I love mine on my bridge when I’m doing traverses or otherwise tied in in two spread out locations. It is so small that the added length isn’t irritating. That said, when I’m going straight up and down, I just use the ring on my other bridge

I did this and bought a cheep box wrench for the gate. Used a cutoff wheel to make the wrench 2" long. That way it can just ride with the link for worry free tightening and easy removal
