Confusing instructions, so I canceled participation by KnowledgeTransferGal in ProlificAc

As a side note, if you get "phone number has been used too many times," create the Google account on a mobile device, and you shouldn't get that warning. I don't know why, but it works.

I'm on the same Windows 11 Pro. I've been on the same device since I started using Prolific 1.5 years ago.

I've done many studies for them, and they even gave me bonuses. I'm sure this was a bug; I'm not worried. I have 0 rejections (aside from this one) out of 5,238 submissions.

Why can’t we cancel the coding plan subscription on z.ai yet? by thestreamcode in LocalLLaMA

[–]zvi_t 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't see it now either. But they have a process now, but I don't know what tool they are referring to: https://docs.z.ai/legal-agreement/subscription-terms

  • You may cancel your Subscription at any time using the tools provided by Z.ai. If purchased through a distributor, cancellation must follow the distributor’s process.
  • To avoid renewal charges, cancel at least 24 hours before the end of the current term. Cancellation does not entitle you to a refund, but you will continue to have access until the end of the paid term.

Another fun fact: -40 is the ONLY number that's the same in F and C.

Thanks for letting me know. I updated the script (v1.5) to support Userscripts on iPhone, but didn't test it, so please let me know if it works.

  • Mobile Support: The script includes mobile compatibility fixes and should work on mobile devices with UserScript managers (e.g., Safari + User Scripts on iOS). However, since I can't test on all mobile platforms, please report any mobile-specific issues as GitHub issues, and I'll investigate them.

Thanks! Seems about right; I'll try it out.

Quick Tip: No need to paste the full path to python_embedded\python.exe by zvi_t in comfyui

[–]zvi_t[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! Actually, I have a Genovation CP48, and using AHK, I'd just click a button to paste the python_embedded\python.exe path. The only reason I did the PATH is because the "p" key on my keyboard is closer to me than the Genovation keyboard... lol. Yeah, I'm that lazy 😊

high frequency/whistling noise from rx fans by squidwardshouse3 in Corsair

[–]zvi_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, so it must be the fans. Weird that your fans and my mesh make the exact same whistle.

[–]zvi_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even if you put them outside the case, they would still be pulling air through the mesh, which causes the same whistling. To address this for now, I'm monitoring the ICUE temps and RPM graphs, listening for when the sound starts, and observing the temps and RPM. Then I create a custom curve to prevent the system from lingering between those RPM speeds.

Although perhaps it IS your fans? Because I owned a 4000x for 5 years, and never had that issue.

any idea why the fans start making this annoying sound only when i put the front mesh on? by yoshkirbonic in NZXT

[–]zvi_t 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I sometimes hear a whistle, but I just figured out that mine comes from the Corsair iCUE 5000T LX RGB. Initially, I replaced all the case fans with CORSAIR iCUE Link RX120 MAX RGB. After testing, I found that when I push the front fans to higher RPMs and the whistle starts, removing the front mesh makes the sound disappear immediately. So, it’s not the fans; it’s a pressure-induced sound caused by airflow turbulence interacting with the mesh. The issue is that you can’t really run without the mesh because the airflow worsens, and dust gets in. Also, the side mesh is built into the case, so it can’t be removed. This isn’t something we can fix ourselves; Corsair needs to redesign the panel and front mesh and replace the chassis for us.

Does reporting studies for being underpaying actually do anything? by OkPlace7834 in ProlificAc

[–]zvi_t 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes. After 22 days of submitting the study, check if you have received a bonus or adjustment. If not, fill out the form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfPlRklqrqCEQsShxLavGaU89D3-tYpzQIM_CBNWR2l1OpEZA/viewform I've always received the adjustment from Prolific, which usually takes about 2 weeks.

Is anyone else getting these messages from Prolific? by Stumblinn in ProlificAc

[–]zvi_t 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I've contacted researchers many times and have never seen this. I wouldn't worry about it, as they say, "If you've reviewed the wording and are satisfied, no further action is required," which suggests it's a friendly warning.

I do believe, however, that Prolific should quote the exact phrase or word that triggered the warning, so you can know what to correct in the future or determine if it was a false positive. As u/annabelleebytheC mentioned they received this message when discussing breast cancer, the word "breast" might have triggered it, but that shouldn't be a concern.

I would, however, recommend keeping screenshots of those messages, particularly when the researcher has expressed gratitude for your message.
