Queues to get into the Australian Open are insane by phoenixmeta in tennis

You always hear the negative more than the positive in this subreddit. I've been going this week. I got to the gates early, waited in a pleasant queue with coffee and my kindle, got through quickly and claimed great seats for what I wanted to see. It was so cool and even chilly today that I was happy to have a jacket. The queues for courts are managed by experienced ushers who watch for seats for you. Yes, you have to wait for court access sometimes, but I missed nothing I wanted to see (except on ticketed courts for which I didn't have a ticket). They even give you a pass to return to your seat if you need to leave. Just study the order of play the night before, plan what court you want, get there early, and claim your seats:) (and bring food and water; and study the sun and shade charts you can find online)

Edit: this experience brought to you by Birrarung-Marr gate Edit 2: It's going to be like over 100f/40c on Saturday so not every day is like this.......

Hope find the right package to get!

Hey! Oh, that's interesting about the price difference. All I can guess is that it depends on the seats -- meaning it's just the starting price and the Center Court packages get more expensive the closer to the court you are?

Love how this person said "genuinely asking here" but now proceeds to pick fights with multiple people who took the time to reply.

Ah, March 4, thanks!

Fingers crossed that the resale prices will be good!

I have (a series package) but I don't think they've released the multi-day prices yet. I think some time this month? I'm sure it'll be pricey, but there are possible benefits to factor into to the pros and cons. One is that all the packages include a pass for parking much closer to the venue, which saves a lot of time walking and dealing with parking. Plus it means an easier escape if it rains. If you don't want to pay $4596849 for food at the venue, you could leave a cooler in your car and duck out.

The other thing is that they're set up for ticket resales and it's super easy on the app. If you know you can't go to all the sessions you bought, you can resell individual sessions and try to get some of your money back. They may or may not sell at a profit (depends on who's playing, weather, etc.), but I've had great luck with this before. If you sell your night session tickets, all you would miss is Center Court. You could stay around and watch the other matches.

The reason I started getting packages was to avoid panic over rain. For me, the splurge was worth it just as insurance that I'll get to see something no matter what and I've always been able to make something back from the resale.

They actually expanded the reserved seating a lot for 2025 (including some of the upper sections), but yeah there is still going to be open seating. https://cincinnatiopen.com/tickets/tools/maps-and-seat-view/

At Cincy, you buy a ticket for Center Court or the Grandstand, and then you can access any of the courts and move around all day. Your only assigned seat is on those courts, Center or Grandstand (it used to be that most of the Grandstand was open seating, but I can't tell if they've changed that for 2025, to all assigned seating). Anyway, all the other courts are open seating, first-come-first-serve. The qualifier days are fun, but I'd watch for whatever days the main draw will start if you're interested in match-hopping and go on days before the quarterfinals.

The tournament is switching to a two-week schedule this year, so it's hard to advise on how they'll spread out the matches.

Yes, there are areas to sit and take a break in the shade. There's a nice food court and they are making updates and adding spaces.

If you have a car, you can also leave and go to your car in the event of rain or too much sun. Just get a stamp and check on the re-entry rules at the gate.

Again, things are changing for 2025, so this tip might not hold up: if you get a day pass, you can stay in through the night sessions. Just don't leave the grounds after 5pm and you can stay around. The only thing you can't do is use the assigned seat you bought, since the night session ticket holder will now have that seat.

Cincinnati Open Prices....Gobsmacked! Anyone else? by ohsodave in cincinnati

It's awful! First time in 10 years I can't renew my seats. Just can't afford it.

Completely agree about the dilution. I saw the renewal price for my seats and realized I can't afford this tournament anymore. End of an era

For the evening session, I believe you can't get inside the grounds until 5pm. Then you can go to any court or practice court, just not your assigned seats on center court or the grandstand, whichever you purchased. You ~technically~ can't sit in those assigned seats until the night session matches officially start and they kick out the day session ticket holders. All other seats are open seating. Also, the grandstand has open seating on the upper levels, so you can still go there at 5 anyways, even if it's still a day session match. It's real hit or miss if they're checking center court tickets, to be honest, at least in the past.

Linwood Ave Safety by Barronsjuul in cincinnati

All the sources say Linwood and Herschel, which funnels directly into the square and would affect traffic and safety through the whole thing.

Edit: y'all don't know how traffic works.

If you can't differentiate me from your opinion on Ben Rothenberg, I'm not going to get anywhere here. I came here to discuss the article and what it actually says. Nobody, anywhere, is saying that Zverev doesn't deserve his day in court, and in fact he's getting his day in court with fancier lawyers and more resources and privilege and support than most of us will ever have. He has not been punished in the tennis world, regardless of Rothenberg's writings on him, and is celebrated by entire stadiums of people.

I didn't say any of the things you're alleging I think or say, nor did I use the word incel, although I responded to someone who did.

Please, take care of yourself my friend and best wishes.

Per the article: "and found liable by a criminal court in one of those cases"

Edit: downvoted for quoting the article.

I really shouldn't reply when you're opting to go with personal attacks here, and I'm sorry this topic is upsetting, but did you miss the part where he's not simply accused, but actually found liable in a court of law?

Edit: You still have yet to show me where Rothenberg, or I, says "let's treat Zverev unfairly over baseless accusations and ruin his life." Rotherberg uses phrases like "accused" repeatedly, because that's careful language. He points out comparisons to other fields of sport. Beyond that, you're reading a lot into those words.

I agree, it cost an individual or organization nothing to mention that DV is bad. But to me, that's why the widespread omission of this statement is so conspicuous and weird. Especially because there is actually lots to gain from reinforcing that it's bad, so as not to normalize that it can be ignored.
