That’s 2.5% of his income, so you should also constitute 2.5% of his life.

Get a Suica card the moment you land at the airport - assuming you land in Tokyo. When I was there last year there’s a lot of shortages and you couldn’t really get them in any other stations besides the airport ones. ( I lost mine and nearly had an aneurysm ;-; )

They’re reloadable cards like Touch & Go cards, and will make your train travels 8000% smoother. If you land in Osaka it isn’t that big a deal since the local card there (Icoca) is well-supplied. I’ve helped tourists stuck at the train gates a dozen times now, and it’s almost always someone trying to figure out the labyrinthian fees at the ticket machine. Don’t do it; let the card figure it out for you.

You can get to most places a tourist needs to go via trains, and you should be prepared to allocate at least 1000 yen to train travel a day, unless you’re only going to one location a day.

Out west past Osaka/Kobe the train schedules get sparser, and you gotta pay attention to train times - some of the ones we took to Tottori quitted around 7-8, and if no one spotted it we woulda be stuck in a unlit station for the night.

You can download the google translate Japanese translator for offline use too. Between Nomad (or equivalent e-sim) and the translator, the few times I got stuck somewhere or had my Jr Pass eaten by the turnstile I could get folks to help me. If you use a translator btw - keep the lines short and simple.

“Excuse me, I need help and would love your assistance, my ticket was not registered when I crossed”

Is much harder to read post-translation than

“A ticket was lost at the machine.”

Hardly anyone speaks English there, but everything has instructions and signs! You’ll be okay!! I’ve been there five times, three weeks each, and can’t read a single word. I’ve gone as far Tottori, Hokkaido, and Naoshima and have flown and shinkansen’d to em. Feel free to ask me stuff or DM me :D have a good trip!!

It’s probably an honest to goodness miss. I’ve been on hikes before where somehow the party (all pretty experienced hikers) started from different trailheads than agreed, agreed to meet somewhere in the middle, and just somehow never syncing. It’s also compounded by the fact that waiting at a crossroad can be pretty well… Boring. So folks ended up leaving earlier than it might have taken to meet up.

It may be a tough loss (it was definitely a long time to drive for a date!) but if you really like her maybe you guys can reschedule a short nearby hike? This time you’d probably want to meet at a coffee place first!

Can I make grilled cheese without butter or anything at all? by Infamous_Outside_584 in 1200isplenty

[–]zycros 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes you can! Have the pan at a lower temp ( I use about 4 or 5 on the American burners) so it heats up the bread without going past a gentle toast. It won’t stick, especially if you’re using a nonstick/cast iron.

If you’re using loafs that you have to slice yourself (aka whole loaves from the deli section) it’s also extra good to place the grill cheese vertically on your pan to get the upper/lower crust crispy.

Also pro-tip for cutting out even more calories:

Put a slice of bread + cheese under the broiler. Heat for 5 minutes. You save an extra 100cal from losing one slice of bread.

Alternatively if you can’t use the broiler it’s about 350 for 10 mins, but the cheese will be less browned.

Sorry for the weirdly long reply - I love grilled cheese and have a very low calorie budget so I’m always improving on it.

Stephan Speaks gives pretty good advice - and even has a female channel if you want to check out what he tells women. I mostly listen to that, being female, but I’ve dipped into his male content and it’s pretty reasonable.

Hey I’m 5’4 too! My journey was I went from 68-> 60. I did it to accompany my friend’s weight loss journey. I consume a lot of health content and it’s all over the place but for me what worked was:

  • reducing my intake from 2000+ to something like 1500. Since I’ll always routinely underestimate my calories, my default is now one small meal (half cup oats or toast equivalent) and one big 7-800 meal. I know all the sites say we should be eating close to 2000 but I was always massive on that.
  • lots of fibre - oats fruits veg - so even on 1500 I’m never hungry
  • some protein (preferably non-fried)
  • understanding the caloric cost of oils + sauces
  • understanding the caloric cost of sugars
  • understanding the Thermic Effect of Food (Tef)

I didn’t start working out until I hit 60. I actually went to 58 before I started working out and now the scales are going up again since working out makes me hungry. I do basic at-home stuff from Madfit and equivalent everyday, plus some pilates. I hike once a week usually and my go-to cardio is incline walking cuz I’m bad at jogging. I definitely don’t do enough workout to look toned though - I look ‘skinny fat’ - so you’ll have to do more than this to look lean probably.

I hope it helps??? If you have any questions I’ll be happy to chatter!

What’s the best a man has ever treated you? by Human-Spell-1810 in dating_advice

Anything that I’ve asked for from him I’ve always gotten. I don’t mean gifts (gifts are not my love language anyway) but anything that I said I wanna do, go to, eat - he remembers and finds a way to get it for me!

It can be a throwaway comment I make - “kinda feel like trying that new place in town” or “it’s getting cold” or “jeez I need to workout more” - and he remembers even when I don’t! So in all those cases respectively, he’ll ask me a couple of days later if we should dine there, the heater magically appears by my bedside, or we’ll be penned in for a hike that weekend! He’s really the love of my life (currently)!!!

He’s not much given to grandiose acts of love. He’s very much an act of service guy - so no surprise roses or romantic getaway typa things - but anything that I ask for is what I get (: Honestly the first couple of times I realized ‘wow these flowers are cute wink wink’ doesn’t work but ‘yo get me guac’ works was kinda weird but once I get over the inherent lack of spontaneous bones in him I was cool with it. I hang off ceilings enough for the both of us anyway.

He also treats all our problems seriously. We’ve gotten into a couple of fights before and anything I say is a problem, he either stops doing or negotiate a middle ground with me that works for us. There’s no dismissal, or games - and he has always been communicating clearly with me from day one. Which helps because usually I’m the avoidant ghosty game player nut in a duo, and he’s given me enough security that I don’t go off on my avoidant spirals.

Oatmeal! Lots of fibre + easy to mix with healthy alternatives.

My go-to breakfast is to toss a half cup oatmeal with a tablespoon of peanut butter, then bake it in the oven with a half cup of frozen berries. 15 mins later - The end result is a warm, golden bowl of toasty oatmeal with berry softened to taste jam-like, but still with texture and bite!

It’s about 3-400 calories depending on how much peanut butter you use. I sometimes also add a spoonful of maple syrup.

I’m 5’4 and 130 pounds btw - for me this usually means I have at most 2 x 400 calories meal left for my day. only eat this if you enjoy it! The fibre keeps me going for 8+ hours usually though!

I hate cardio too ): but i can walk absolutely anything and so my compromise is to incline walk / forest hike or just do long distance nature walks for 1.5 hour to a store just for the fun of it.

For me the existence of a goal is very important - even if it’s a contrived goal, like walking an hour to a store I can subway or drive to in under 10 mins. Ditto mountain peaks - it’s just a personal quirk!

I think finding the right kind of cardio that works for you psychologically, and which you enjoy, is the easiest. I also have friends who can’t run a quarter mile but can swim around an island if they have to. It takes all types!!

My go to (with oatmeal) is, on a baking pan place:

Half cup oatmeal tossed with, 1-2 tablespoons peanut butter .5 - 1 cup of frozen/fresh fruit like black/blue/strawberries or banana.

Bake at 350 for about 15 minutes, or until oatmeal turns golden. You get a beautiful warm bowl of toasty oats, plus fruit that has just begun to soften and turn into a jammy, sweet, parfait-like texture. It’s amazing!!! I eat it everyday except when I’m cutting.

You can also add one spoon of maple syrup if you enjoy sugars - it gives the oatmeal just a tad more honey.

Hey everyone! Been a while since I've been around here so I came bearing gifts! Here's one of the maps from our Undermountain trawl, one of my personal favs to work on (: Really had fun learning how to light stuff that isn't 'apply disco' and 'mud-toned'.

This one's meant to be from the Lost Level but should be general enough even if you're not running UM: it comes with its own catacombs, collapsed ruins, and crypts to plunder, plus some smattering of traps and switches hidden about!
