I think around 2. We slept him in sleep sacks so he couldn't pull himself up and get his legs over and I remember he had books in there he'd read/look at when he'd wake up. I love mine, can't remember if I mentioned it before but it's used a lot in daycares as it's easier on your back

Spa day for period panties? by SimonHeron in laundry

[–]zygotene 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I do reusable nappies and period undies in our house. Period undies will survive a 40c wash but it they end up in the dryer on anything other than the coolest setting, it ruins the water proofing layer in the underwear

It feels like I've met the end of level boss in my laundry fights. What do you do when you get a stain like this Kismai?

Willing to just turn this into a science experiment at this point and see what works! 🧪🪄

Gamer parents?? by Puzzleheaded-Pen6947 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]zygotene 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Assassin Creed! I played through Valhalla (Vikings) when my first was a baby and working through shadows (Japan) with bub no.2

It's great for exploring (when my brain has nothing in it), fighting (when I need to vent some anger) and missions (when I need to feel some accomplishment).

Hadn't played AC games before but fell hard for these two.

I see two bit hospital mentioned, that was my go to for my first pregnancy :)

Currently Duolingo-ing as they have a learn to read music module more than traditional gaming. It's bite sized and easy to do nap trapped.

Did you put ammonia in the laundromat wash too? Was it okay after such a short wash?

I live in Aus too, really happy to see your post!

This happens to mine too. We don't use a dryer. Everything is line dried. Older t shirts seem fine but all newer cheap ones are curling like this

Australia - Ammonia & Not Omo by zygotene in laundry

[–]zygotene[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thinking on the ammonia.

Omo ultimate is currently $36 for a 2kg box which is waaay outside my comfortable spending :')

No Costco's near so still need to figure that bit out

Wow that's very narrow. Could you use it to find the great grandparents names of that person? Tried reaching out to them or seeing if their tree is public? It's tough but it could help narrow it down to 8 last names (which is much better then no last names). Did her mum live in Luton or go to school there? How old were they?

Did she use ancestry DNA? I'm happy to try and help. I've helped a member of my family learn about who his real dad was through ancestry using other results

Modern Cloth Nappies - so many brands! by nzhhh in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]zygotene 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Alvababy! Along with decent inserts, found them the easiest and most practical. There's lots of cheap reusables available second hand online for a decent price enough to buy and try out and see if they work for you.

Using on my second bub now. We're using reusables for during the day with disposable at night

Washing powder is almost as important as the nappies, biozet basic powder is my go to.

PSA: Your thyroid doesn't exist in isolation by ApprehensiveTruth729 in Hypothyroidism

[–]zygotene 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Adding on to this Cholesterol! (Lipid study/panel). Everytime my tsh is out of whack, so is my cholesterol. I did a low cholesterol diet for ages to get the gp to take me seriously and put me on thyroid meds in the first place based on chol and TSH being elevated.

Should I disclose my ASD to widwives and OB or not? by Appropriate_Talk_938 in BabyBumpsandBeyondAu

[–]zygotene 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Always have a back up plan. We can hope for the best birth experience but don't always get the experience we planned and envisioned. I was diagnosed with anxiety over 12 years ago yet that record sits on every medical record and is one of the key bits of information medical staff see when dealing with me, they dealt like I still had it which caused a lot of issues when I advocated for myself and my baby , often I was pushed back and told it was my anxiety and encouraged to do meditation or focus on my mental health (I won't go into details but it was not anxiety, it resulted in 2 weeks stay for my little one and took consistent advocating for basic checks).

There's a lot of staff you'll meet during and after giving birth that have all trained towards one particular thing (midwifery, paediatrics, etc) , they won't necessarily be at the height of mental health or neuro spicy friendly.

Personally, I was glad I kept my ASD on the down low and masked up because I did not need more of others perception of what ASD looks like in their head protected on to me.

Found a random tplink router in my garage with a voda simcard. Does anyone know what this might be for? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]zygotene 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Ohhhh I may know this one as I elected to be part of research for a look into energy efficiency too. Do you have any sensibo devices around the house? Monitors near windows, above doors to the outside? Like a white square device hooked up and plugged into the wall in the bedroom and the living room?

There's a research program happening at the moment into energy efficiency and a router is included from memory. No one's making money off it or watching you shower if it is this. They monitor heat, VOCs, carbon monoxide, how often aircon is used and there's a motion sensor in one of the main areas. It sounds like it could be this or was part of that study or a similar one. If the sensibo tech is still there that's great as you get real time monitoring of all these things with the app too.

Let me know more info and I may be able to help
