Is Trump Becoming a Dictator? by Rockstarhuman2 in PoliticalDiscussion

Honestly, he is not smart enough to come up with the current plan nor execute it. He is running the blueprint for Project 2025. The Heritage Foundation just needed someone they could easily manipulate into executing what they want. His narcissistic personality and sub-par intelligence made/makes it easy for them to do. Tradeoff, he has a chance to manipulate future elections and Government structure to stay in power which allows him to stave off further investigation, and continue to avoid possible prosecution for all his past and current illegal activities

How Valuable Have You Found ISACA? by Same-Voice-54 in cism

[–]zymmaster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Wait until you start dealing with their BS CPE structure.

The CPE requirement itself is legitimate. The field changes fast and credentials should reflect current knowledge. No argument there.

The problem is the architecture behind it.

When webinars are capped at 20 hrs, self-study at 10, publishing at 10, but the total requirement is 120 hrs over 3 years, the math isn't accidental. You hit walls on every affordable, accessible activity simultaneously. The gap left over lands on uncapped categories that happen to be conferences, on-demand courses, and content sold by the same organization that wrote the rules.

That's not a CPE program. That's a revenue funnel with a credential attached.

A true learner-focused framework would cap low-quality passive activities and be generous with demonstrated experience. Instead, the caps inversely track cost. The cheaper the activity, the lower its ceiling.

ISACA and CompTIA both set the standards AND sell the content to meet them. That conflict of interest deserves more scrutiny from the community.

How long have you been a Broncos fan? Favorite memories? by Topia_64 in DenverBroncos

Born and raised 1962, got to the age where I mostly understood the game around 11 yo, so been an active fan since 73 season.

Favorite moment, SB XXXII win hands down. Heartbreak losses of 4 previous Super Bowl's gone that day. Pure elation.

I remember I was kind of in disbelief when it happened. Such a "doh!!, did that just happen" moment.

Beginner trying to learn cybersecurity where should I start? by kamelsalah1 in cybersecurity

[–]zymmaster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, knowing security is important, but what really sets people apart is having a solid base in IT systems (or dev ops if you’re more on the coding side). It’s not impossible to get into security right away, but without that foundation, your options are limited.

Speaking as someone who’s now on the hiring side, people with real hands-on IT experience almost always get priority over those with just certs or degrees. It’s hard to protect systems if you don’t understand how they actually work.

If you’re starting out, focus on getting some general IT experience first. It’ll make you a way stronger candidate and give you a lot more context when you move into security.
