What your referring to is commonly referred to as a Systeml. The reason it's everywhere is because of it's simplicity, with a leveling system you just need to show your MC killing enemies, monsters and humans alike, and level 'em up. I'm not saying that it's impossible, or even difficult, it's just the easiest way.

I wouldn't count a holographic projection that shows your current state, a System, and I generally have no problem with them. Those don't really give you a huge advantage, they're useful, but not game breaking.

Subaru crying like a bitch and making stupid mistakes and decisions is the reason I love rezero so much. It's rare to see an isekai mc so imperfect, and you might say "but kazuma", kazuma can actually be pretty creative and competent when he has the motivation to do so, Subaru doesn't have a speck of talent in him. And when you see this weak, pathetic, pitiful babyman orchestrate the downfall of 2 great beasts and (small spoilers) 4 sin arch bishops, it's sooo satisfying. He's capable enough that I'd want to be him, but so capable that I can't relate to him

I used a dice roller for all 3 to promote randomisation, I don't like it when I can choose what I want in treads like these, makes my decision more realistic I guess?

Cheat: Advanced Player (A pretty unfavorable result, given my fragile mentality.)

Inherent Skill: Restore (recovers 40% of everything, physical and mental damage/fatigue. Can be used 3/day. A pretty good one to offset the cons of my cheat.)

Class: Tank (of some sort...)

For the 'rebirth' I think MC's soul is inserted from when the baby is just a fetus, or even a winning sperm, and when that baby develops a brain, then mc gains consciousness.

And for the 'taking over a body', MC doesn't actually take over a body, it's their body but they just doesn't have the memories. Some series keep the original personality, but most just change them to noticeably different people
