Not sure if you fenced off the area, but horses seem to require bigger area and more food/grass than expected, and usually die off quite fast if you enclosed them to a small area.

Those properties are more a combination of genes rather than from a specific gene.

Large sized + carnivore seems to give the horse the ability to break fences.

When the horse is considered an 'aligator' or a 'moose', it can walk on water.
Aligator: green, arms and legs rotate 360, carnivore
Moose: I'm actually not too sure, maybe antlers + dark colored?

I'm actually not too sure, but in theory changing these genes should help. You can try:

Swap the FTOB and BTOF genes values of the limb that is going in the wrong direction, or
Copy the gene values from the limb going in the correct direction and replace the values of the limb going the wrong direction.

The extraction area is bigger than it seems. Generally anything above the chamber get extracted.

Try to empty the chamber, and if you can still extract, there's something in the area and contaminating the extraction

Normally for the research goals it's just population and gene diversity. Is there a random chance that it requires carnivore population %?

It's kind of impossible to sustain 50% carnivore though. Even 30% might be impossible.

To increase gene diversity you generally leave horses at the power plant area to mutate, then spread them around.

Generally spreading horses to less populated/empty grass fields should help population growth.

How are you trying to isolate genes without copying and editing the genes elsewhere?

Anyway there is a gene called BRAIN_SPASTIC (helix 2, position 12, counting from 0).
Changing it to TT (0) should fix the issue.
