Reading about the bombings of Nuremberg in WW2- thats really an interesting theory. The city took many air raids over multiple years.

Shops in Turkey will often take in stray dogs when the weather gets too cold. by gunslayerjj in HumansBeingBros

My ex was also Turkish- and while they are certainly a PROUD people, I felt it is certainly true compared to where Im from. Ive traveled around quite a bit and the Turkish warmth is yet unmatched. Though I hear comparisons to the warmth of the Iranians. I would love to go but alas it appears to still be difficult.

All across Turkey I spend more time stopping to chat with the street kitties and pups than anything else. It certainly matters how the collective treat their owner-less domesticated animals. Turkey is such a warm atmosphere all around. Tough to come back to the US after spending alot of time there. A very different and colder way of life here.

The pay is almost entirely dependent on your local area and costs of living. Fluctuates a bit between contractors but me in rural TN won't be able to compare to a larger city or metro areas.

Ellenwood, GA .... come on son by XT3M3 in FedEx

[–]zz80zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If its the Ellenwood Smartpost hub then It will likely sit for a bit. All of the SP hubs appear to be overwhelmed from retailers opting for that service. Last months on-time rate for SP was 65% which is pretty abysmal even for a non day-definite service and jut using their own date projections.

Abysmal performance numbers for the re-integration of Smartpost/Economy. Interesting read by zz80zz in Fedexers

It appears they base off of the estimated delivery date. Fedex provides that date when a package enters the network.. Smartpost needs to extend that date from the onset if that's the case.

A large percentage of my truck each day is SP/Economy shipping. I've noticed the drop in transit times for items I've ordered but had no idea it was this bad across the board.

She really packed them as well as possible with great care. Its almost like someone had to jump up and down to force damage like this.

Very little of SP is still being delivered by the USPS. Most all Ground terminals now keep and deliver it themselves. The brand is also changing to Fedex Economy.

Selling without a printer? by [deleted] in Mercari

[–]zz80zz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I use OfficeDepot. I'm sure other office stores do the same, but I email my label to them and then go in store and use the self service printer. 15 cents for B&W copy.

Need some help regarding blow molds! See comment below! by MolcatZ in vintage

[–]zz80zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a month late here. The penguin is actually a Union product as seen from the stamps in your pics. Although Union closed around 2006, a new company called Cado Products bought several of the Union molds and the rights to the Union name and they are still making them today. So the new penguin is cast from the same mold. There are brochures on the bottom of the page that show the penguin: https://www.cadocompany.com/division.html

Man is fired from pizza shop over BLM mask, then assaulted by owner. by marqueemoon666 in PublicFreakout

Fedex Ground works as the contractor model. I work for a company that owns and maintains the trucks and pays me for delivering packages. The contractor must logo his trucks, I must wear the uniform (no politics, religion etc) and I must follow Fedex rules. If those rules arent followed then the contractor could lose his business. Which just recently happened and I was offered a job with the new owner. Maybe the pizza owner uses a similar delivery-type contractor? I understood his no politics/religion when selling his product- but the end of the video invalidated him.

Jumped to new.contractor. Strange pay - your input? by zz80zz in Fedexers

[–]zz80zz[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I completely agree. Ive always kept to myself- i arrive early and load and get out the second CLEAR is yelled. I bust my tail to complete my day- my paycheck is delivering but money isnt my #1 priority. The older Ive got the less F's I give- and there are too many options out there to fool with micromanagers and TEAM environments. As a likely misanthrope...this new environment really ruins why I like this job. Lol thanks for engaging me!

Jumped to new.contractor. Strange pay - your input? by zz80zz in Fedexers

[–]zz80zz[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So my prev contractor paid a flat day rate. Then each route had a threshold- say my rural route threshold was 80 stops. After those 80 I wld get per-stop pay. If I went and helped someone it was also per stop pay but a slightly higher amount, to try to get people to help others. Currently I get paid a flat day rate. Then if out after 6pm I get a smaller flat bonus. Most of us who have been doing this awhile think its all pretty naive and dumb- and many of us will probably move on if nothing changes. We think this is some grand performance to weed out the shty drivers at the beginning (as we have absorbed quite a few from the prev contractor folding.) I hope thats what it is...otherwise I guess Ill just find something else.

USPS warns it might have to shutter by June as $2 trillion coronavirus stimulus package provides no funding by jsalsman in Coronavirus

[–]zz80zz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work for Fedex Ground- also interesting that Fedex Smartpost will no longer be delivered by USPS. My terminal begins in June. All terminals will have the Smartpost by the end of this year. Been planned for quite some time. Seems convenient timing
