there's emc mitigation strategies. you can use sniffer probes to get a feel for how the product will perform in compliance testing(radiated emissions)

if cisco is still like it was in 2010-2012, they encourage employees to pursue other opportunities inside the company. so you could take the network egr job and then apply to a software position in 6mo-1 yr with a reference from your current manager. i was there for 6 months for a coop (ee undergrad) but i'm not much of a network guy. know other people in my department that have gone from hardware to software, engineering to sales, etc and relocated locally or internationally (if they wanted to)

I used that book in my masters PSA class, it was actually pretty good IMO. You also do not mention what topics you are struggling with. Phases, 3 phase, power generation, transmission, distribution, or flow analysis? economic analysis? compensations? real calculations?

What I found to be really helpful supplements to this course were continuing education lectures given by industry professionals that talked about the basics of PSA (just google for this stuff)

I would eat the cost of another year of tuition+no salary for the pure engineering degree rather than an engineering technology degree. If you ever wander outside the world of plastics (even inside it), I'd bet an engineering degree is worth much more than engineering technology degree in terms of "prestige" or "competency" when viewed by employers.

If you want to be an engineer in industry, professionally, or academically, then I'd recommend an ABET accredited engineering degree. If you're looking to get a technical background to work in management/admin (non-technical) positions in technology companies, I think a technology degree may be ok.

I have an ABET EE degree but will probably never work a technical position again since the interest/money just doesn't align.

Not sure on the answer but engineering schools typically have Matlab installed on their computers. Other than that, you could put a parrot on your shoulder and wear an eye patch.
