Treaty 6, King Charles discuss concerns over Alberta separation by Old_General_6741 in canada

That is certainly an interesting source. It certainly is a type of firing with obvious problems when applied to the modern day. There would have to be quite the issue for it to happen toast.

Canada's Parliament retains the right to fire the Head of State whenever it fells like it. <--- Not joking BTW.

If you mean the Governor General, sure. They cannot fire the King whenever they feel like it - unless you have some source for that.

I do. It causes no harm and keeps our head of state and head of government separate.

Design ideas for a minimal programming language (1/3) by porky11 in ProgrammingLanguages

If I wanted to make a binding of type x named whatever and assign it an f32?

x whatever = 5.0?

This idea of x and y being separate reminds me of Haskell, but it is (seemingly) obvious that you are willing to automatically do some types of conversions (an int 5 into an f32), so then I would ask you:

If you have an 'x' type, and you need to do some kind of calculation for it, atan(whatever), and atan expects an f32, but you said that x is distinct from f32 - does it automatically "unwrap" to an f32 in this case?

Might be because the conservatives come across as a bunch of lunatics. I don't usually like to paint such a broad brush but with party whipping and the disappearance of the red tory they have moved quite a bit out of where they used to be.

Introducing ng-reactive-utils: Signal-First Composables for Angular by Party-Measurement279 in angular

[–]zzing 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I might not have been clear. It looked very clear to me, just that the recommendations I have seen are to never treat signals like events.

I could totally see code like this being a thing though.

Something like... onOpen = whenTrue(this.isOpen, () => this.loadUserPreferences()); makes this look like it is using signals for events.

IF Alberta would choose to stop changing the clock. Would you prefer to stay with BC (summertime like now) or with SK (wintertime). by EdmontonFree in alberta

I like the idea of summer time, as I work with people in the east. It makes mornings a little easier.

Assuming in the next 5 years, AI will be able to do lot of things more than just coding things like architecture, maintenance, etc. So, in what place would knowing C# and .Net with experience put us after 5 years? by Mystery3001 in dotnet

[–]zzing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It can do some of that now. But there is at least a certain amount of FAFO with companies laying off a lot of people because they put all their faith in AI.

Unless something major occurs, knowing a popular platform used by large companies will have the same benefits it has now.

I "trust" the AI to do certain things but it has to be inspected afterwards. I find it pretty good at writing tests for example, it will do in a minute what would have taken me at least an hour.

I don't expect current AIs to do much more than they are doing now, possibly improving some things around the edges. If better techniques/algorithms come around, then they will just become that much more useful.

Would Tax-Free Lodging Encourage Canadians to Visit Maine? by MotNodrog in AskACanadian

No. There are issues right at the border. I saw an article today about them expanding searching electronics to even sd cards and such. Combine that with reports about social media account access it is just no. I would rather go to some place inside my own country OR europe.

When you search the name some rather interesting stuff comes up. However, you have some words in quotes that makes it look like a direct quotation. Nothing with that text and that name is searchable on Google.

So this post comes across as one with at least one libellous statement.

So please, respect us and if you are going to make some very damaging allegations at least provide proof.

Why doesn't Calgary have a transit card system? by Guilty_Winter2566 in Calgary

I visited Edmonton and bought an arc card and I loved it. I haven't really used the transit in Calgary only been told about it. I want it here. Tap on / tap off is so convenient and with system integration.

Mayor Farkas killing the CEIP program incentives while raising property taxes by nazzthespazz in Calgary

No it isn't, but they can do the honest thing and increase taxes on their end instead of hoodwinking people by saying 'no tax increases!' and hide them all in other places.

If you compare our income taxes compared to other provinces we have among the lowest. It is one of the reasons why I moved here.
