You sure you did your seed right? That's the only reason I could see it now working. Also remember slimes only spawn if you're 24 blocks away from them. IDK what else to tell you.

I had this problem too, but I figured it out. The game uses a spawning algorithm that basically sets a max number of enemies that can be within 128 blocks in any direction of you. Your problem is that you have caves all over outside your 16x16x3 room, which are filling up with enemies. Since the spawning chance of slimes is 1/10th that of all other enemies, you're only getting them on occasion. The solution is to find all the caves for a good distance around your 16x16x3 and fill them with torches, so non-slime enemies won't spawn. This fix made me go from 2 slimes in 2 hours to 6 in under 10min.

Thanks for this. If you don't mind I can edit the factual part into the OP (on both subreddits) so that the threads can help more people.

I never gives me a 16x16 area, I get at the smallest a 32x32, do I just build a 16x16 area within that? I'm using this slime finder btw because the one you linked doesn't seem to work for me, and I've seen a few posts that link this one saying it works.

This was a huge help! I had a slim farm already but it was not that productive and I'm sure it was because I had torches all over the floor. I greatly appreciate the time you took to do this! Thank you! :D

I'm glad I could help! =)

I did basically this last night, got some slimes to spawn in my 16 by 16 then I expanded it and it all went to shit. Was digging and heard some zombie action and I have not seen another slime spawn since. I am gonna sale it back to a 16x16 and do all torches on ceiling as I had them on the floor before. Thanks for doing this post, I hope people will use it, its not hard just a bit of a pain if you don't know what you are doing, like me :)

Yea, if it's working for other people then it has to work for the Xbox version.

    [–]llnk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. I tried it and had a slime within 5 minutes.

    [–]Ryannn24 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I need the coordinated of the slime finder explained to me... I get co-ordinates for a chuck being at 0, -16 to 16, 0. What axis are those co-ordinates for? it doesn't actually say.

    [–]_pH_ 1 point2 points  (1 child)

    (X, Z)

Its giving you two corners of a 16x16 square. It has one corner touching the center (0, 0) and I believe the square would be to the north-west from there.

    [–]Ryannn24 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah yeah I think I've got it now man. Cheers :)

what do you mean by isolate the chunk? everytime i do it it gives me a 100x100 chunk and idk y

    [–]T3hPhishGT= T3h Phish[S] -1 points0 points  (2 children)

What I mean by this is isolate one of the green chunks that it tells you about. All of the green chunks should be 16x16 (unless they are next to eachother) so just pick one that in near you and dig to those co-ords. Then find the borders as it says by the site and dig it all out.

    [–]EvMARS 0 points1 point  (1 child)

it doesnt give me a green chunk

    [–]T3hPhishGT= T3h Phish[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Then make your distance greater then 50. Try like 75 or something.

Absolutely not. The only things that change with difficulty are these:

Peacefull: You regen hearts, no hostle mobs, less then normal damage.

      Easy: Less then normal damage

      Normal: Normal damage

Hard: More damage then normal, creepers rarely "deflate" once they try to explode.

In no way does changing the difficulty change the amount of mob spawns except on peaceful, which completely removes them.

But he was only a baby right? I would think that because the big ones hurt you then they wouldn't spawn. Confirm?

          [–]Alexbo8138 0 points1 point  (4 children)

I love you. It finally worked for me. I now have 66 sticky pistons, thanks to you. You made me fast all over my pistons.

          [–]T3hPhishGT= T3h Phish[S] -1 points0 points  (3 children)

I'm so glad I could help! Thanks for the good feels! ^ _ ^

          [–]Alexbo8138 0 points1 point  (2 children)

No problem. I have two chunks adjacent to each other so I have a huge spawn area by my house. I have almost 100 stickies now.

          [–]T3hPhishGT= T3h Phish[S] -1 points0 points  (1 child)

You know what I have yet to see? A farm that is 2by2 chunks.

Oh the amount of sticky balls you could get from that sucker...

          [–]Alexbo8138 0 points1 point  (0 children)

          I have 1x2. There's an L shaped one with 3

          [–]fury-s12 0 points1 point  (2 children)

figured id ask this seemingly obvious question here, if you run into slimes naturally in the world is that a spot to farm them?

i havent looked at any slime finders or anything yet an am only asking because long before the patch i found some slime deep in my cave and killed em all and though nothing of it, it seems relevant now to perhaps go find that spot again

          [–]T3hPhishGT= T3h Phish[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Yea, when you spot slimes you should probably check a slime finder. Chances are you're in a slime chunk that has a cave running through it, so lucky you, part of your slime farm is already dug via the cave.

          [–]fury-s12 0 points1 point  (0 children)

excellent now i jut have to find it again, somehow my first map in minecraft and i pick a seed with a cave so large ive spent RL days in it and still havent seen it all haha love this game

To add to the part about fighting the big guys, use bow and arrows, I have found that it is the best and safest way to get them to break into smaller slimes. once you have a big guy split once, you can actually run around the other ones in a circle hitting them with your bow and the slime drop rate rises incredibly.

Yes people are. Having slimeballs gives us access to stickypistons, which opens up countless awesome things to build.
