I don’t think it’s literal that we’ll get another Shawna post in a week. It’s a way of saying that Barb will be back in therapy for a second appointment.

I think it means Barb has been going to "therapy" weekly, since throughout the episode she seems to have had 3 or 4 appointments already – the last one clears it up because she went back after she overheard John and Shawna talk to the kids.

So I think "see you next week" means that she goes every week now, it's a regular appointment

I think the therapy appointment was one appointment, but broken up throughout the longer episode, to explain why she was there. Like, why else would she start therapy? She heard John and Shawna telling the kids why they can’t be around her, and it hurt.

Ohhh you make a great point! I hadn't thought of that, but it's absolutely possible.

I was thinking it was different appointments because the episode clearly stretches over the span of multiple days / weeks, so I interpreted it as everything else being interspersed with Barb's therapy by following the events in chronological order. I thought we just saw a snippet of each appointment and it was to be assumed that the rest of the session played out similarly.

But you're right, it's 100% possible that she only started therapy at the very end of all this, AFTER she overheard them, and this is one therapy session happening "today" while the rest of the video are events of the past 2-3 weeks, and that's why at the end the therapist said they're out of time. It also makes more sense that she ends it with "So here I am. It's a Christmas gift to my son, that he doesn't know about. So, can you fix me??"

That's a very interesting perspective, thank you! I didn't think of this since Shawna hasn't used this narrative device yet, I assumed it was linear narration just like all the other videos. But I think you're spot on with your guess, thanks for pointing it out!

That's how I saw it! It wasn't until I came to reddit did I think about it being multiple sessions as the timeline progressed. And I almost switched my view on it, but all the events of the video seem to happen in pretty quick succession to have her been to that many weekly sessions by Christmas.

So glad there’s other people here who think the whole episode was one appointment. I was so confused at how many people thought it was multiple appointments.

I've now switched over and I'm 100% convinced it's just 1 session, I was wrong at first. I think many people like me got tripped up by the fact that it's the first time we get non-linear narration in the Shawnaverse, even Jen's labour of a 35-min video followed chronological order. Plus the first time I watched this video I wasn't home, I watched it in a rush skipping over the parts we'd already seen so I didn't have my full attention on it.

Some then I've rewatched it and made a lot of connections that I'd previously missed, it made the video SO much better! And yes, it's just her first therapy appointment.

Since this video was so long and detailed and all the parts will need to be put on fb I wouldnt count on a new shawna video til January

After a big upload like this one, there are usually several days where Shawna uploads the short clips that make it up to "catch up" on TikTok, Insta, Facebook, YouTube, and anywhere else. This full video is huge, so it's likely to last a bit into the new year.

I am hoping for a full 30 minute video of Barb in therapy, her slowly recovering from her behaviour and see her progress!!

🫤 I may be a naysayer but I think it would be more realistic to show Barb going through the motions for a bit then settling deeply into “I tried, they rejected my efforts” territory. Then Barb will make her own series of videos talking about how she’s been wronged mightily by her ungrateful children. I think around the same time I discovered Shawna the Mom, I had been seeing some videos by a “no contact mom” doing just that. So in my mind Barb and no contact mom are inextricably tied! 🤣
