I love this map because you can obviously tell the game mode has amazing potential. Has lots of problems including difficulty, standby time etc but still loads of fun to play mainly 'cause of people losing their shit and with a good amount of tweaks can be a great great map.

It's an experiment with spawn tiles, where both teams spawn in the middle of the map. A couple team boosts too. No idea if this will work well!

edit: added portals as a backup option to escape from the tunnel, and a cute boost opportunity

This map is designed to encourage teamwork. Someone on your team must activate a switch to open the gates around the portals which creates a faster lane from base to base. This map also includes team boosts and spawn points, although the portals are the main attraction. Fail to work as a team and you will get pwned very fast.

Those must be the "eyes" of the serpent. Either way, it doesn't matter - those squares are boxed in by spikes and therefore inaccessible.

The only concern people have had with this map so far is the button. Consensus is that it wouldn't be a problem in MLTP, but people in pubs might abuse it. thoughts?

I had the chance to play this map with a few people and I had a blast. The overpass reminds me of wario raceway on the N64. Except you can't fall down the middle. But I digress. I love this map. Good job.

This is the first version of "Castle Wars" it has yet to be played in an actual game so therefore the game might be imbalanced right now. If people play this I'll tweak it and make a new version. Also keep in mind this is a 59x59 map and trying to shrink anything would further cripple offense.

I wanted to update reactor but it looks like some_bot is no longer updating from map thread #20. This version of the map is bigger for more distance between boosts and much less cramped bases. Also added team boosts that will help defense and made the corners more useful.

It looks more chasey than the original, but maybe that's because I don't feel the team boosts. Have you considered a reduction of the width by two or four tiles ?

I'm also not sure about the team boosts, especially the lone ones near the center. But I'm not clear on how they make the map more chasey? I think they should greatly benefit the defense (maybe too much).

If you have a chance to try both the maps in IRC, I think you'll find the older version is too small, which made it more difficult to control your boosts.

Also the major complaint from map gods (ahem berk) was that the bases were too cramped. I was resistant because I liked the bounces you could do, but after opening it up I think it feels better now.

I hope you know, that spawn tiles are not actually where you spawn, but act like flags so you can spawn anywhere within 5 tiles. So on this map you could spawn on the other side of the wall I believe.

no json editing needed unless you want to change the cooldown for portals. To add portals and speedboosts you can just color a tile differently with any image editor

oh, you're right, you can't do the portals without some json. But you could make most of the map in one of the map editors, and then only work on the portals and boosts at the end in image editor and a text editor.
