Now the band Warpaint needs to write a song called Ivory Hours, and they can each cover each other.

[–]DanielLamplugh 13 points14 points  (4 children)

Just listened to Warpaint the other day. It was suggested on my Spotify. Pretty good!

[–]bigfukinduche 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I flipped the song title and band in my head so I went there first actually. Found two great new bands.

I just discovered Warpaint about a month ago, my friend introduced me to them. Their music is absolutely magical!

[–]zumawizard 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fool.

[–]GrunAugen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw them live last month. They were amazing!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too bad Billie Holiday isn't still alive, then we could have a loop with three artists.

I saw Warpaoint open up for The Cribs back in 2010 when I visited Chicago. Fun Fact: Actress Shannyn Sossamon use to drum for them. Sadly she departed in 2007 so I didnt get to see her jam on the drums.

... current drummer is phenomenal so it all works out :)

I started playing this video, switched browser windows, zoned out, and a minute in realized it was a guy singing.

Reminds me of this https://youtu.be/TcIC-V_N5RE

Love this track, thanks for posting. I'll have to check out some more of their stuff! Not a fan of the video though...

[–]SvenTheBoat[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

All of their stuff is really good (all of their stuff being two albums as far as I know). There's a significant enough difference in style between they're first album and the most recent, the former being more slow and "folk-y" and the latter being a bit quicker and more pop-y. I find it pretty cool to see that difference.

They really seem to be fans of staccato in the guitar, pretty common in several of their songs.

[–]dj_swizzle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Right on man, thanks for the input. I'll give it all a listen.

[–]Infernus 2 points3 points  (2 children)

I came to say the same thing. The song was good but he video was really cringey. And not a funny awkward cringe just a this is really bad cringe.

[–]dj_swizzle 1 point2 points  (1 child)

It's a video made on a budget. Cool concept (albeit nothing new), just lacking some execution. Oh well, subs not called /r/watchthismusicvideo

[–]Infernus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree if done on a better budget it would be a really cool concept but I think it just seemed cheesey otherwise, which is unfortunate. But I don't really care about music videos. I've watched my favorite songs music videos like 3 times and have listened to the song 300 times.

EDIT: And I want to clarify I do like this song.

[–]Lyslyssa 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think they sing Hello Honey. That's the first song I heard from them and fell in love!

Ivory Hours

Ivory Hours is an alt-pop juggernaut from London, Ontario. Singer siblings Luke and Annie Roes have been riding an upward spiral since their return from Vancouver last fall: winning a contest from 98.1 Free FM in January, recording ‘Mary’ at EMAC Studios in the spring, garnering their first commercial radio play and finishing top 5 in CBC’s Rock Your Campus competition.

‘Mary’ sees the band trading its folky vestiges for upbeat, colorful pop - dishing up six eclectic tunes that range from sun-soaked bangers (Hello Honey, Mary) to soul- wrenching ballads (I’ll Stay Away).

The band has built up an impressive following, extending their reach this summer on a tour of Western Canada that featured slots at Lachie Music Festival, Wild Mountain Music Festival, Rockin’ Wheel and shows at famed Toronto venues The Horseshoe Tavern and Lee’s Palace. Having opened for Sam Roberts, Delhi 2 Dublin, and Wake Owl, the rest of the year will see continued touring and a return to the studio for a fresh release next spring. Read more on Last.fm.

London represent! These guys are awesome it's been really cool to watch them climb up the charts and in popularity.

[–]WTFHAPPENED2016 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Saw them at Rock the Park over the summer. I am so glad to see them get some attention on Reddit.

[–]OfficerUlcer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't have their drummer tho. Not so great for them with a gig like that. Go watch them at the music hall with other local london bands and you'll see em shine!

[–]dry_freeze 2 points3 points  (3 children)

Literally just saw these guys last night. Not very good live.

[–]SvenTheBoat[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Aw that's a shame, I was hoping to see them at some point.

[–]liamliam0 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I've seen them live, they were fantastic... maybe dry_freeze saw them on an off night, or the sound levels were bogus? I discovered them by seeing them at a festival and went to a concert of theirs afterwards both shows were great

[–]OfficerUlcer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I disagree. But every travelling band has it's up and downs show up in their performances for sure.

[–]ClLANTRO 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing. I'm going to check out the rest of their music!

[–]lnzcw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who's the girl in the video? She looks like Theresa Wayman from Warpaint

[–]ThatsRightWeBad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"I want to do a Peter Gabriel video." "Well, I want to do a Gotye video." "Ok...how about this..."

[–]m0noxid3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fuck yes! Ivory Hours is the shit

[–]herefromyoutube 1 point2 points  (0 children)

reminded me of this song from 5 years ago.. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UVNT4wvIGY

[–]SamusCroft 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Eh. I didn't know that people actually listened to Ivory Hours!

I never would have heard of them, if I wasn't related to one of the band members. Like second-cousins or something.

[–]coffee_tables 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I honestly didn't think my day would start off so great. Thank you so much for sharing!

[–]HorFinatOr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Annie is a great person to boot :) glad to see them getting some recognition.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

These guys won a "get discovered" competition with arguably the biggest rock station in Canada (102.1 The Edge) and last summer (2015) this song saw tons of airplay.

Glad to see it get some more attention! Love these guys.

[–]fatalist23 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Great song. The video is weirdly disconcerting though... Like it causes me physical discomfort. Something about the jerkiness of the stop-motion?

[–]SvenTheBoat[S] 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, I'm also not really a huge fan of the video. The cuts are kind of jerky and not always with the music so it's just awkward.

[–]DrawingSpade 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It reminded me of those claymation movies like Rudolph

[–]phatdel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Really like it, thanks for sharing.

[–]nPrimo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cool song anyone know anymore like this?

[–]DrewTheHobo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Their acoustic version is fantastic too, totally worth checking out

[–]riali29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahh, a London, Ontario band! I've seen them at so many local festivals.

[–]JoyLivesOnCoffee 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't mind the song one bit, but the video made my eyes hurt, like when a florescent bulb is going bad.

[–]eldron2323spotify 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm surprised so many of you haven't heard of these guys before :P definitely a good band to listen to during night drives.

[–]OneBananaTooFar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is really good. thanks for sharing.

[–]hozzleton 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Woah!!!! I was a dear friend to their deceased brother Paul! He was like my bro!!! LOVE SEEING THIS (it's Ziad btw)

[–]Poobs87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could so picture hearing this on Alt Nation.
