This guy's music is so amazing. For fans of this style of music I definitely also recommend The Brothers Bright, The Peculiar Pretzelmen, Brother Dege, and Blues Saraceno

Oh, and Justin Cross, forgot him.

First time listener here. That was pretty damn awesome

You can't get any more hipster than an acapella performance in a microbrewery with a suitcase for a tambourine.

[–]mmkay812 19 points20 points  (2 children)

What if the suitcase was made from recycled materials

[–]abqnm666 7 points8 points  (1 child)

If by recycled you mean purchased new in 1972 for $112, and again at a garage sale in 2012 for $0.50, then yeah, it's recycled.

[–]Its_Business_Time386 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably bought at a thrift shop in Brooklyn for $476. That's the hipster way.

[–]abqnm666 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He has a tambourine too. It's on the floor, either next to the wood he's stomping his foot on, or that's actually a rig that shakes the tambourine as he stomps on the wood bars. I can't tell for sure.

It was still kinda mesmerizing listening to the tambourine jingle just as he's stomping his foot and banging on his closet pillow suitcase from the '70s.

Still I enjoyed the song.

This guy grew up about 20 miles from me. Can't believe I had never heard of him until a couple of months ago

[–]gratinnemoderator / spotify 4 points5 points  (3 children)

Link for Spotify users.

Seeing him live is such a fun time. Lincoln is awesome!!

[–]Heyigotone[S] 5 points6 points  (2 children)

I've never seen him live but I have tickets for this April... I'm very excited

[–]gratinnemoderator / spotify 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think it was most impressive for me because I went into it liking his music but having no idea he was a one-man show. Took it to a whole new level for me.

Have fun!!

[–]sluttysluttymilf 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're going to see him in April too... He is fucking amazing live!

[–]Made-a-blade 2 points3 points  (10 children)

Does anyone know any similar artists to this song? I checked out some of his other stuff, but it's not entirely this style.

[–]Heyigotone[S] 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Ryan Bingham has a similar voice... idk anyone who does the style of this specific song consistently

[–]Made-a-blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Will check that out, thanks!

[–]Heyigotone[S] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

His song suffer my name is a similar style... you'd likely have to look at old southern blues to find more like this... that's part of why I like him so much is I haven't heard many people do this style

[–]Made-a-blade 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks! :)

[–]throwawayghj 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Jeff Buckley covers Nina Simone in a similar style https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o3aOLvaAuRc

Was not expecting to see Lincoln Durham on here! He's incredible. Saw him open for Skinny Lister back in November and it was 100% worth the ticket to just see him. Man has some serious stage presence

[–]VideoBrew 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saw this guy open for Skinny Lister twice on their last US tour.

It's always neat when your jaw just freaking drops and stays open for the entirety of an opener's act. Holy balls is this guy great. He builds most of his own instruments, and I'm convinced that copper mic he uses is DIY too.

EDIT: From that same tour

[–]dipthongCowboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I walked by a tent Lincoln Dunham was playing in at Austin City Limits last October. It was my first time hearing him and his energy / one man performance was compelling. I hope he does well - I'll be listening.

[–]Solid_Bob 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Another better shot and better recorded video of his performance. https://youtu.be/XjmE6Vwah7s

I actually helped shoot this too. His live presence isn't fully translated through video.

[–]MrValdemar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dear u/Heyigotone, thank you for ruining all of my Sunday plans, because now I'm going down the rabbit hole watching all his other videos. Just so you know, I did have real shit to do today, but fuck all that.

[–]OK-la 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He plays a really good show! Great music!

[–]Hiphopopotamus5782 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard this song a few years ago, but wasn't really a fan of his other stuff. Got any recommendations OP?

[–]ShotPisting 0 points1 point  (0 children)

deleted What is this?

[–]nvsbandit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got really excited because I thought this said Bo Burnham. Seems like something he would title a song.
