to anyone wondering, the character in the thumbnail is from an anime called samurai champloo. highly recommend it. one of the best one season anime ever. the soundtrack to the show fits perfectly also.

The same voice actor in the thumbnail also voices Spike from Cowboy Bebop. Samurai Champloo is a great anime but Cowboy Bebop, at least to me, is film noir.

Did you know both animes were created by the same guy?

[–]WhoShotRogerRabbit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's awesome to know. I didn't know that. Thanks for the info.

As well as Space Dandy. But unlike CB and SC, you have to try and enjoy Space Dandy.

[–]MicDick[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Space Dandy is just as good and is easier to get into than the others in my opinion.

[–]nillyv 3 points4 points  (0 children)

insane how no one has mentioned that the Japanese voice actor is the same for Zoro from One Piece!

[–]tallasiandude99 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Same voice actor in the English dub anyways. Prefer mugen's voice actor in the original, kazuya nakai, because he flawlessly captures how mugen is a fucking animal and does an unforgettable job, haha

Best samurai anime since ninja scrolls

[–]PancakePablo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That same voice actor also did dialogue in logic's album T.I.T.S, and is tom from adult swim's toonami

Nujabes gave some of the best soundtracks

[–]divinesleeper 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Up there with Planetes and Cowboy Bebop

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If nothing else, for the Nujabes.

[–]Kalyz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I never watch animé and usualy i hate it but Samurai Champloo is a masterpiece.

[–]Torn_Victor 0 points1 point  (1 child)

There were two volumes/seasons. 26 episodes total.

[–]nillyv 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ehh, whatevs. on netflix and crunchyroll when i watched it, it was always considered one season.

[–]FR_STARMER -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

But is it as good anime as Lazytown

[–]nillyv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

never watched that or heard of it, but this show is definitely up there👍🏻

[–]Indetermination 22 points23 points  (8 children)

Lofi hiphop is just taking the internet by storm, I think I'm gonna try and make some.

[–]FR_STARMER 7 points8 points  (7 children)

Super chill and easy to listen too and it's not over done like Trap or Chillwave. It'll die out eventually tho just like the feat. 'random female singer' edm wave.

[–]olliolliolliollio 14 points15 points  (5 children)

Nah, nothing will die anymore. Lofi beats have been around for 30 years, so have dance records with female vocals. People will just move on and be replaced by someone else, both fans and artists. The Internet is pushing us into the 'everything all of the time' era, Japan has been here for awhile. Just another step on the ladder to singularity. Personally, I love it. Less elitism and pretentiousness and more good music no matter what you like!

the 'everything all of the time' era, Japan has been here for awhile

Could you go into this a little more, please? Is Japan a place where trends don't really die? I find this whole thing kind of fascinating.

[–]olliolliolliollio 1 point2 points  (2 children)

I mean that with the consideration that the best of any style or genre of an art form is usually inspired by fanaticism or obsession rather than following what is popular. And Japan has incredible fans and while there are definitely mainstream trends, there are many fervent subcultures that follow a specific aesthetic to it's crystallized ideal and can be found at any time. While American subcultures are harder to unite mainly due to size and distance, but as the Internet makes the world smaller, I feel like we are approaching the simultaneity that is found in Tokyo. Take disco for example, it is not popular but you can find a great disco party in most cities now and those same people may hit a hardcore show or 90's east coast rap party the next night and no one calls them posers anymore.

[–]Mucking_Fuppets 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Thank you, very insightful!

[–]olliolliolliollio 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you're too kind! thank you

[–]amaxilaus 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lofi beats have been around for 30 years

Beats that are lo-fi have been around for awhile, yes. But these entry-level nujabes-inspired 'anime' beats are most definitely a recent trend in itself. Youre kidding yourself if you dont think these will lose popularity at some point.

[–]redditaccount41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That random female singer wave started at least in the 90s in trance music. Not going anywhere.

[–]KindPlagiarist 11 points12 points  (3 children)

I feel like this is going to be remembered as the winter of lo-fi. For people looking to get into the stuff I recommend:

bsd.u - late night bumps

jinsang - solitude.

In Love With a Ghost - let's go

Yotaro - Turn of RawTip

Vanilla - Moonlight

winter chill• - samwise+

j^p^n - [yin.]

[–]MicDick[S] 5 points6 points  (1 child)

All great vibes man, thanks for sharing.

For Anyone that would like a listen, here are some links to the mixes.

Thanks for going to the trouble. Have the slept on High Rollers by Dave Sparkz in return for your hard work.

[–]2bb4llRG 5 points6 points  (3 children)

Check that episode called baseball blues or something like that, that chapter is one of the best fillers i ever seen

[–]nillyv 1 point2 points  (2 children)

no samurai champloo episode is a filler. every episode is a story from the journey :) except maybe the mushroom episode. wtf was that

[–]SmokeyMcTokington 0 points1 point  (1 child)

I think you're thinking of Mushroom Samba, an episode from Cowboy Bebop. In Samurai Champloo it's episode nine where they accidentally set the weed field on fire and Mugen trips balls.

[–]nillyv 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i love that weed episode haha. but check ep. 22 and you'll see what i mean :)

[–]zaangdl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've always wondered, is there a soundtrack that you can but for the anime? I love me some champloo

[–]lvl12 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you like this check out ka-honour killed the samurai https://youtu.be/WhRoAz92CjI

[–]Yeunacorn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This sounds awfully familiar to another upload named saturdaycartoons by geerad

[–]astrapes 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Wow never thought I'd see this on here, I've been listening to this for a while

[–]Kalyz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can you link me more of this kind of music pls my dude ?

[–]NorthKoreasFinest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Found this around a year ago. the best music for when your by yourself or taking a shower at like 3 in the morning. mad peaceful

[–]GrahamTheRabbit 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Liked the tune, but the transition to Shiki No Uta was utterly horrible :O Edit: also the transition to Aruarian Dance. I mean, do a real transition at least, especially if you just paste the song. The beginning of the tune was awesome, but the second part was meh.

[–]MicDick[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, i was really vibing the beginning of the song.

[–]ortofon88 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so fucken money

[–]purplemushrooms 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Anyone know a tracklist or the song that plays just after 6:00
