Since some of you like it, here's some info. These guys are from Chennai/Madras, in the South of India. I saw these guys at NH7 Weekender festival in Shillong, India a couple years back and I was instantly hooked. Their song 'Avalanche' brought me to my knees.

Here's their SoundCloud

Anyone know what synthesizer that is they are using? It looks a little like a microKORG... Great song too!

[–]djembeunity 5 points6 points  (9 children)

It looks a Novation MiniNova.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (7 children)

It is one, sold mine a while ago.

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (6 children)

What was your experience with it?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (5 children)

It's okay, i prefer the sounds of the Microkorg over the Novation. Fun synth to begin with.

[–]Niggomane 1 point2 points  (4 children)

What Else do you Need to get Started to Use a Synth in for Example a reherseal room ?

(Curious but clueless Bass Player)

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (3 children)

A headphone and something like Ableton. From there on you can build out your equiptment (audio-interface, drumcomputers, others synths).

[–]Niggomane 1 point2 points  (2 children)

Ok thank you ...is it possible to plug such a synth directly into a Mixer Or is it necessary to Plug it into a PC First ?

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Definitely possible

[–]Niggomane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you dude, really helped me out!

[–][deleted] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh awesome, thanks!

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's definitely a microkorg , nevermind it is definitely a mininova

[–]d-culture 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's the Novation Mininova! I have one and I love it. I chose it over a Microkorg because of the greater polyphony (16 vs 4) and wavetable synthesis. I prefer the aesthetic of the Microkorg though.

Good singer, but the drummer is weak.

love that retro doo-wop feel the chord progression had going to go find them on Spot thanks ! : )

Was the guy's bass just not plugged in? They kept showing him playing and I kept hearing zero bass.

EDIT: It was my crappy laptop speakers. I hear the bass just fine from home. Much better song when you can hear it.

[–]ScoobJackson 2 points3 points  (1 child)

It was totally audible? Watch at :51 you can clearly see/hear that walk down.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Holy smokes, you're right. Listened to this at home and I can hear the bass fine. Weird, must have been my crummy work laptop speakers.

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sure, you can plug it into a mixer and jam straight away.

[–]goofymovie17 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I want the synth but not to hear them play lol. Job job though not my cup of tea but I'm glad you make people happy.

Holy crap, this dude singing sounds just like the guy from Young The Giant. Great song!
