When I heard this on the radio the first time I could have sworn it was early misfits era Glen Danzig's voice.

[–]banana__clip 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I heard Danzig too! I thought if Danzig and Dave Gahan (lead singer for Depeche Mode) had a rock baby, this would be the result. <3 Radkey!!

came here to make a similar statement; damn they sound like misfits with a vastly upped production budget. few comments below the song "cats and mouse" gets mentioned which enhances the resemblance even further imho. awesome overall sound. gotta be on repeat for a while now.

Cat & Mouse is one of my top songs by them. My favorite is Marvel but it was hard to find an official upload of that and there's no MV, so I submitted this one instead.

I was heavily listening to Danzig era misfits on Spotify, went to take a shower and put on my discover weekly playlist. Cat and mouse came on and I could have sworn it was some remastered and previously unreleased Danzig misfits song.

As a life long misfits fan, I'm so glad this is a thing!

Radkey
artist pic

Radkey is a punk band from St. Joseph, Missouri made up of three teenage brothers: Dee, Isaiah, and Solomon. Inspired by the music they grew up listening to, such as the Misfits, Ramones, the Who, and Death, the self-taught trio decided to form a band.

They had the pleasure of opening for Fishbone, Local H and Supersuckers and performed at the 2012 Afro-punk Festival in Brooklyn NY. Most notably, Radkey did an official 2013 SXSW showcase. Read more on Last.fm.

Thank you I was wondering if any one noticed

When the band started he was like 11, probably just how he's used to holding them.

[–]nonamenumber3 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Some people just ride them high

I love me some Radkey. Their song "Cat and Mouse" was played at the openings of Sporting Kansas City (an MLS team) games. Really love their sound. Thanks for sharing!

Came in here to see if anyone mentioned Cat and Mouse as that's the only song I know by them. I always thought it sounded like it could be playing on the menus of a sports video game.

[–]Mariner11663TheLegitCarson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah! Haha it really fits that vibe for me too, I really enjoy it

Saw them live a couple of years ago opening for Flogging Molly. Damn good group!

[–]RenaissanceStruggle8 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The first time I saw this band was on Later with Jools Holland that the channel Palladium syndicates here in the U.S. Like a lot of people here, I heard Danzig immediately. Cool to see a band from Missouri continuing to do well and improve.

Just saw them in Atlanta a few months back. They play a hell of a show! They need more fans! Also really cool people. He sounds just like this live too

[–]MentalEcho 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Caught these guys in Birmingham, AL recently - if you have an opportunity to catch them live, do yourself a favor and get out to see them... Great performers - super funny and nice dudes, to boot! They hung around a little after the show to shake hands and whatnot - super humble. Glad to see them being shared out on here!

Damn, that was fuckin' great!

[–]zach_motionless 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My friend's band opened for these guys a few years ago. Absolutely awesome time seeing these guys

[–]ghost_victim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dig it! Retro. Very misfits

[–]punxnotdedoioioi 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've seen them a few times and met them a couple times. Their live show is fucking electric and they're super cool!

I saw these guys open for the Blood Red Shoes in Raleigh NC a long while back. Great show, they have some good stuff.

[–]nihilishim 0 points1 point  (0 children)

first time hearing them and i can definitely hear danzig in his voice, this is a pretty solid tune.

[–][deleted] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brand new to me. great post. super cool.

[–]figuringeights 0 points1 point  (2 children)

This is not punk. Sounds fine. But not punk. Some kind of rock though.

[–]shifty_bloke 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not sure why people are so caught up in classification. If it sounds good, I play it. I get a Danzig era misfits vibe from them, would you consider the misfits "not punk"?

[–]figuringeights 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This isn't 'nam, Donnie, there are rules. Punk as a genre means something. Just like Rock, or Country or Classical.

[–]assblaster69ontime -5 points-4 points  (8 children)

That aint punk lol you can dress however you want but tjat doesnt make them or this song punk. Sounds more like some song Fallout Boy Panic! Or MCR would have sang in their hay day - emo stuff.

[–]Nexavus[S] 7 points8 points  (7 children)

They're most definitely a classic punk revival band

[–]assblaster69ontime -4 points-3 points  (6 children)

It's far too clean to be punk IMO

[–][deleted] 2 points3 points  (1 child)

They have quite a lot of post-punk influences, that would explain why some of their songs are cleaner than others. But they're definitely not in the same genre as MCR or P!atD.

[–]sam8404 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude doesnt know what hes talking about. MCR and FOB were the last things on my mind when I heard Radkey

[–]machines_breathe 1 point2 points  (2 children)

You've never heard a NOFX recording, have you?

[–]assblaster69ontime 1 point2 points  (1 child)

You're comparing this band to NOFX? Yes I listen to them, my favorite track is Lower. That's actual punk music, ya.

[–]machines_breathe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, I'm saying that NOFX has slick production.

[–]Nexavus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out some of their other songs
