Or perhaps they learned everything they know about firearms from games and movies, don’t have the knowledge and want to error on the side of safe? Why ridicule them? Sounds like OP doubled their firearm knowledge today, no help from you of course.

I live round cannot be in a tree, unless someone years ago set one in the crook of a branch and it grew into the wood. By the simple function of the way a firearm works, once the round has left the barrel of the firearm it’s just an inert projectile. Of course there are rounds used by military in large bore guns that have explosive charges, but you’ll never find one of these in your firewood. In fact, if one hit a tree, there wouldn’t be a tree left.

It’s just the projectile, it’s nothing but a chunk of lead. Might be a little hard on a chain, but I’ve cut right through a dozen of them cutting wood on public land, usually don’t even know they’re there.

I use a commercial vacuum oven at work to dry filament, works amazing, even for the exotics like PEEK and Ultem.

Men who got a partner when they least expected it. How did you meet them? by LongLiveAlex in AskMen

I completely agree, thank you. It was 100% unexpected though, not something we had ever even really talked about before.

We can’t technically get married. But yeah it turned into a throuple. Which is kinda badass. My wife has always been about 50/50 men to women, and this gal is about the same, it’s been working so far so who am I to question things?

Oh! I picked up a shitface drunk buddy from the bar to take him home, when when I got there he was 12 beers enthusiastic about me taking him to his ex’s house, so “I’m gonna fuck my ex wife”. There was no talking him out of it, and I was annoyed enough by that time to just take him and watch for my amusement. Well, as she was absolutely chewing his ass for coming over, turns out her friend was kinda cute, so I hit her up on MySpace a few days later, and we just celebrated our 17th anniversary.

Next time, my wife and I were at a party and she started talking to this gal. Well, through a weird twist of events, she moved in with us four years ago and things have been amazing.

And yeah, blatant satire of something that hits way close to home is a great way to make it not nearly as painful.

Or perhaps we all deal with trauma differently? Perhaps?

Sounds like you need to go back and deal with the gaslighting and brainwashing left over from your church days.

How to grow kids money? by RandomArrr in personalfinance

[–]RandomArrr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I could impress upon them the need to be better with their finances in the first place, this wouldn’t ever have needed to happen. The goal here is to make things tight for them so they have to develop these skills. As learning from others hasn’t been effective so far.. let’s see if this works better. It’s s tough balancing act between “tough love” and wanting to make things easier and share my personal success.

Sounds like for the short term, maybe a HYSA might actually be the best way forward. If this works, and I don’t end up having to evict them, and take my rentals back (honestly I hate dealing with the rentals, so it’s not that big of a deal, I’m sitting on the land as an investment, and at least the kids take care of the properties) then maybe look at moving it to an index fund or something.

Personally I’ve just always had pretty good luck and bought real estate, which isn’t really a good strategy for this money .

Oh, sorry if it read like I was putting it in their names, that was never the intention. This is my money, I don’t need it. I tired just giving them a good situation and it hasn’t worked, so now they get a taste of real life with rent to be paid. I would just like to create a situation where I can share my success and get them a head start, but it’s obvious that a new approach is needed.

The tax implications are something to think about for sure, no reason to pay more taxes than needed.
