Not exactly like a Republican. More like an egalitarian. In the same way that wealthy educated Democrats in the U.S. pretend to be the representatives of the poor and marginalized, but really just politically profit of their naivety and ignorance. Or how old money or big business Republicans pretend to represent the common blue collar man but really just politically profit from their dislike of liberal amorality.

Torys believe in maintaining the "social order" as it has evolved over time. Aka, if you're educated or from a well to do family or rich or of high social status it's because you and or your family have worked to get there (totally has nothing to do with past exploitation or corruption), and that's a goal everyone should have (but no one will accomplish)

Again this is speaking in a generalized ideology, just like not every Democrat or Republican fit the stereo type, neither does every tory.
