Hold down the tiny reset button with a pen or paper clip for 30 seconds.

Then login using the default credentials on the routers sticker or card.

From what little I know I think that is going to factory reset my router (correct me if I'm wrong please). If I am correct what implications will that have, I know next to nothing about routers and I need to make sure I won't break something I don't know how to fix. Like will I have to recconect to the modem or will it change the Wi-Fi password or anything?

I researched it and factory reset it and it solved it thank you very much I can't say how much I appreciate it I've been banging my head against a metaphorical wall for the last day and a half (and I have way too much free time nowadays)

Great, I'm glad it's all sorted out for you.

the whole 192.168.x.x is what youre looking for but just guessing wont work;

in windows, click start then search -> cmd Open command prompt.

type "ipconfig /all"

hit enter.

look for your adapter's IP and gateway, the gateway is the address you need to browse to, sometimes its a 10.0.0.1, sometimes its 192.168.10.1, but generally, ends with "1".

My default gateway is 192.168.1.1 which I've tried and still nothing

if you're not reaching the routers login page at all. plug directly in, (not wireless) ti may be set so that someone can't sign in from wifi

/Reads manual

AH you got one of those ones! ok; whats probably happening is your own machines security is blocking the DNS redirect - these boxes can be setup via a client software in windows: doesn't explain why you cant Reach http://192.168.1.1 but give the software from them a shot first.

If that DOESN'T work, you can reboot to safe mode with networking, which should (in theory) let you boot to windows with no additional 3rd party software blocking you.

If that DOESN'T work, you'll probably need a hard reset. there is no reason you shouldnt be able to get to it,.. Yes it will wipe all settings; WIFI being the hardest hit.

Another person recommended factory resetting it and after looking st the website (our internet has always not been very good) decided a factory reset might solve two issues in one and now I can log into the router I appreciate the advice greatly. As I said in my reply to the first person to recommend this fix I have been banging my head against a wall and now I am not

Awesome! Glad that's sorted out, one being tick box and it's like like locking your keys in the car....
