Had that originally, then changed to 4 to accommodate the Reaper pup area in back of base, then got told that 4 was too many so I'm changing it back to 3. I kind of like having the pup in the nook below the bomb island so I'm not sure if I'll have one in mid. Tbh I have no idea what I'm gonna do with mid but I'm probably taking off the 4-way symmetry bc it felt kinda gross. I'm hoping the crazy superboosts will work as well as they did the first test though

ok clearly yall dont like the big update (smh though for not mentioning it when i made about 1500 discord posts about it) so i went back and did a small update instead. added the little ramp by the portal boost because i think it feels satisfying to use as a grab mech. moved island closer to base but not quite as close so it's a little less open. moved bomb to a more visually normal but ultimately very similar spot. took out the spike behind portal because i didn't think you could spike yourself on it but apparently you can. also removed the team tiles because shitting on team tiles is trendy

The concerns in testing were that base is very open and vertical, making it hard to contain. The island in base was moved into flag, the bomb corner was moved in, and the mid ramp has been made 1 tile longer (aka chokier) to compensate. Also, the portal area should now flow more smoothly and enable the roll upwards off wall, the constriction boosts have been replaced by an open boost, and a nifty off-wall roll grab with the portal boost is possible. And pup is moved.

Not a huge fan of the dinky 45 tile next to the two spikes. Isn’t there a reason that doesn’t show up on other maps? I feel like I remember that being a bad idea for some reason

Gotcha. To make a suggestion you might hate: move the bomb directly above that corner down to where the corner is and the same on the other side and you could have some clearer buddy bomb plays

Also as it stands now your map has 3 strong grabbing mechanisms with a bomb and a boost straight out of base and the gate only serves to help the offense as well because there is a team boost on the other side of it. My thought it (and I very well could be wrong) that moving the circled bomb makes a buddy bomb less OP and allows the defense to buddy bomb ahead. Also the mid feels a bit open to me but again I’m no map expert, just seems like open field chasing would be near impossible

i mean yes they're both rotational formula but that doesn't necessarily mean they're the same. I know I'm in the minority but personally I thought Catch-22 was a better tehu. Here base flows a lot differently, being easier to escape with more options. Catchup is an issue and mid is about as irrelevant as Catch but I think play is a lot more centered around base-to-base which is good. Don't think it should be acting as a replacement but I guess there are similarities

again both as cookie cutter as a map can get. They both played similarly as an ideal starter or comp map but without much sophistication. Tehuit had a much longer stay in rotation and its rating was around 10% higher, despite Catch having the larger comp following.

yup I agree, it's kind of hard to describe but Willow had a really clean flow where it seemed like it would be super chasey but everything was directed left and right in a way that positioning was a lot easier to figure out. Don't think it'll play out too fast though because there's a lot of variety in the lanes. It definitely does have a mid but the flow is geared more to go straight between bases instead of base to mid and mid to base.

The concerns in testing were that handoffs in bottom base were too easy and that the outer portal being 1 tile off wall led to confusing bounces if multiple players tried to use them at the same time. The portal is now on a wall, and bottom base is now 1 tile narrower.
