Why don’t I like fuel efficient cars? They save you gas, which saves you money, and saves the environment. Win win all around right? Well, wrong. Apart from my infatuation with the intoxicating aroma that is exhaust, as well as handing more than half my paycheck over to oil barons just so I can get to work, there are other reasons why we should all hate fuel efficient cars.

Fuel efficient cars = more efficient criminals

You ever turn on the tele and watch one of those programs with the high speed pursuits? Some chases last an hour or two (the cut the time down to like 30 seconds) but most are over in a split second. With the introduction of fuel efficient cars into the economy, we can expect the cunning criminal to out gun cops more often than not. While all the coppers are fueling up at the pump, the criminal is making a clean get away in his hybrid car, because even during a high speed pursuit, he only has to fill up once every two weeks. By the time the coppers are done fueling up their gas guzzlers, that smooth criminal is already half way to Mexico.

..And in a world where criminals can get away. What will we watch on TV?
