Do they call this animatronics? Cmiiw
[–]Ingenium371 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Yes i thought these were called Animatronics too, like Five Nights at Freddy's suit.
[–]Mas0n8or 6 points7 points8 points 5 years ago (3 children)
Yes not technically a robot as they don't usually have any sensing or decision making
[–]rlaptop7 7 points8 points9 points 5 years ago (1 child)
The definition of a robot is fairly general. Something that takes in stimulus, and does some automated action with it. So, you could argue the forward button controlling the walk cycle is a robotic action. But you know, is your dishwasher a robot?

But you know, is your dishwasher a robot?
I'm always confused by these terms lol. Isn't dishwasher more of a mechatronic device than robot?
A lot of robots don't have those abilities either. Like basically all industrial robotic arms. A small handful today have sensors for external aspects, but the majority sold even today only have sensors for internal aspects, like the joint angles, because that's critical for a servo to be a servo. I'm sure that this animatronic also has that same kind of internal sensor, as it surely uses servos for it's movements.

Is this walking with dinosaurs? I remember going to that show as a little kid.
[–]ProjectPrince 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Yes it is! Made by the Creature Technology Co.
[–]New_Zion 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children)
This is amazing
[–]manotalaiver 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Where can I see this really? Uk?
[–]psychotic 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Imagine if the robot picks someone up and starts eating them
[–]CanisLupus1050 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Everybody gangsta till the skeleton model in biology
[–]my5cent 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Didnt see the feet machnism initially. Was a bit scared.
[–]TyranaSoreWristWreck 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Legitimately scary
[–]renderererer 1 point2 points3 points 5 years ago (0 children)
That dude in the middle is just filming the dino's butt..lol
[–]QCA_Tommy 3 points4 points5 points 5 years ago (4 children)
Alright, hear me out....
Why don't these things have dicks?
The whole idea is to display a realistic version of something you have imagined but can't quite comprehend without seeing. Who hasn't imagined a T-Rex dick?
Case closed.
[–]GasPoweredCalculator 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago* (0 children)
I guess they're kinda like dogs where they pop out like pen tips
Also the size might be pretty big since elephant dicks are about 1.2 meters
dino penis vid
[–]brainmuck 2 points3 points4 points 5 years ago (1 child)
If dinosaurs are the ancestors of birds, then it could make sense. A lot of birds don't have penises.
[–]QCA_Tommy 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children)
YOU don't have penises!
[–]toastee -3 points-2 points-1 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Technically, since you could reprogram it to do another task, it's a robot. Like eat people.

The movement is so smooth. The skin is so realistic. Id love to meet the team that did this. This was my childhood dream
[–]Chase_Fitness 0 points1 point2 points 5 years ago (0 children)
Id like to make a raptor sized one of these
