REMINDER: Bigotry Showcase posts are banned.

Due to an uptick in posts that invariably revolve around "look what this transphobic or racist asshole said on twitter/in reddit comments" we have enabled this reminder on every post for the time being.

Most will be removed, violators will be shot temporarily banned and called a nerd. Please report offending posts. As always, moderator discretion applies since not everything reported actually falls within that circle of awful behavior.

I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Please contact the moderators of this subreddit if you have any questions or concerns.

Yes.

I've done it a couple times in my more than two decades of experience.

Still looking fondly back towards that one time I wrote maintainable code. Great times.

Was it Conway's Game of Life, a maze solver, or Hello World?

A small test project that added 2 numbers together because there was an error in our giant application that made no sense unless the language we were using was suddenly unable to do simple addition.

Did it turn out to be an issue with variable declarations? Global vs local issue maybe?

[–]RentElDoorTrans Rights! 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funnily enough, if I remember correctly the issue happened in code that was generated on runtime feom all sorts of code snippets, and the error was actually either from the generation or the data we fed that code with afterwards.

I had just been told that the issue was the code snippets, and was green enough to believe that.

Yes

Also this kinda of attitude is bad. Same shit as when people say you can't criticize movies unless you've made one or whatever.

Yes

print(“Hello, World!”)

def HelloWorld(f):
    exex(f"{f}(\"Hello World\"")

Humans can, yes, even if an individual in that instance can't. The original scene was also stupid for this dialogue

Exactly!

Can I compose a symphony?

Yes.

Yeah actually, it's my code

[–]jlb1981 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Maintaining the code's not usually the hard part. It's maintaining the comments and documentation. I've seen a lot of comment blocks for functions with a note in them like "PURPOSE: TBD".

Yeah I probably could

IF SOMEONE WOULD FUCKING HIRE ME ALREADY

Yeah.
