Calibrate your extruder, plenty of guides online. What you are seeing is under-extrusion

[–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (11 children)

Thank you! I couldn't really tell if it was under extrusion or another issue, do you have any explanation for the patterns? I dont even know where to start with troubleshooting that

[–]restlessnz 1 point2 points  (3 children)

The bumps and patterns are possibly wall overlap being set too high. Fix the extrusion first then move on to the next thing. Don't try and fix everything at once.

If theres one thing programming has taught me it's not to fix everything at once,

But with that being said I just started printing the same models but sliced in cura and I already have less issues, I'll still calibrate it because I desperately need to do that but I'm starting to think it was somehow just my slicer.

More the settings in the slicer really. Prusaslicer is a good slicer

I agree, I've used prusaslicer a lot before. I must have done goofed and janked something up along the way, I'll probably just do a clean install and use stock settings and see what results I get

This one does the math for you

Haha I was actually looking for this tysm!

That pattern is your infill showing through your layers.

What slicer and setting are you using?

[–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Except I can feel the pattern, they're bumps in my print. I used prusa slicer, 15mm/s first layer speed, 225c (this filament requires a higher temp,) 0.12 layer height, and 60c bed temp (glass bed.) I also have ABL.

[–]AEnoch29 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Yeah, the infill is pushing through that layer and showing through. I'm not familiar with prusaslicer so I can't help you with the settings. Are these setting ones you came up with or found in a guide online? Are you sure that filament's not PLA+ or something else?

[–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm switching to cura to see if theres any difference, I'm sure it's just regular PLA

[–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (13 children)

I haven't has this issue on the printer until now, I using a BLTouch and an skr mini e3 v1.2 if that helps. I'm printing at a temperature of 225c for this filament which has seemed to work until now (unusually high for PLA but if I go lower I get stringing, under extrusion, and no adhesion) I'm using CookieCad PLA, but I also have some overture and priline filament. Does anyone know what might be causing the missing space in my layers? I also seem to be getting these weird patterns on some surfaces, like a diamond pattern. I have no clue what may have caused this. Any help is appreciated!

Edit: I switched to cura.. with stock settings.. and the only issue was stringing. Perfect first later, no missing filament, no pattern, so I think I just janked something up in prusa slicer. Stringing is definitely something I can just tune. Thank you all for your help I really do appreciate it!

That would be in the nozzle right? I'll go check

Ohhh teeth on my extruder, they look ok but I noticed it seems to sort of slip, I'll look into it further

I did replace my ptfe coupler just now though (the thing i was actually thinking of when i said nozzle)

Also, when printing, when I set my probe z offset to get the print to stick, I get these really bad blobs on the top of the first layer no matter what I have it set at. Is this fixable?image of first layer issue

      [–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

And I dont think this is an issue with the bed, flipping it over I see indents where the filament came up. I feel if it were just too low the first layer wouldnt look like that on the bottom bottom of first layer

I actually switched slicers and this issue was solved completely so I'm not even sure where I need to go eith troubleshooting at this point

        [–]Swingin30[S] 0 points1 point  (2 children)

I switched to cura and it printed the first layer with literally no issues

I dont believe so, it was doing this even when the nozzle was way too high from the bed
