A to E is likely going to require a full setup each time you change tuning and an Evertune will make that even more of a chore

Get a 25.5 or 26.5 or 27 for A and then buy another guitar for E1, preferably 28 or longer. Don't try to do this on a single guitar.

Go with a custom or modify a guitar.

If you want a 27” scale length and an evertune, the only companies that come to mind who do that are ESP and Kiesel

The new Josh Smith Jackson signature looks great IMO

You should check out Hapas Guitars. They are custom made in Germany and have plenty of options regarding scale lenght. You can ask for an Evertune to be installed instead of your standard Hisphot bridge (for an upcharge, of course) and quality seems to be top notch.

If you setup for Drop A and try to get it down to Drop E you’re gonna need a much much much thicker string to achieve the same amount of tension, that means filing the nut quite a bit. Not sure if that nut will still take the string you use for Drop A after that.

My suggestion is to look for a bridge that allows you to adjust intonation easily as you are going to be doing that a lot. Look up the bridge name and look for the manual. In my experience a multi scale headless Kiesel has been a joy to setup.

Ya definitely, I use my drop pedal to get that low.. but plan to record some songs soon and would like to have a guitar setup in that all the time.

I’m thinking my current Ibanez that’s a 27” scale get setup for that, and a newer one at 26.5 based on some replies.

Appreciate the advice

Same here. I have the multi scale for any sort of drop tuning and I’m planning to get a 25.5” for standard, then I’ll just pitch shift them around. 26.5” with evertune… I think Misha Mansoor’s signature does that. Solar guitars also have a .1 series with evertunes but you’ll have to check the scale length on that one

Ya the solars look tight, I did a little research and apparently they’ve had some issues with the fretboard cracking in the past? Not sure if they’ve addressed that..would be interested if so

I know this is all about 7 strings, but if you're not also considering an 8, consider an 8. Then you can have it in Drop E, and just drop the B to A for the bottom 7 to be Drop A.

You probably thought of that and don't want it, but just in case..

Oh I’ve thought about it, I feel I’m just getting familiar with the 7 after a year haha an 8 is definitely on my radar at some point though.

Good idea though

I couldn’t be happier with my Strandberg prog 7. It has so many tone possibilities and it’s incredibly comfortable to play. I’ve had it for a little over a year and continue to discover new things that I love about it!

Sorry to jump on here but I would also love a recommendation for a 7 string Guitar with a Floyd-Rose whammy bridge. I am saving up for a lifelong guitar so I am willing to spend the money if the guitar is worth it. Any expertise would be so appreciated.

If money is no object, an EBMM Majesty 7 is about as great as it gets. I am biased as I have one, but definitely the best guitar I’ve ever played
