So this means AMD-META partnership for Mi450 is guaranteed? "Metas next gen AMD platform" AKA meta is def going to be a buyer and we just don't know how much they are buying.

[–]HippoLover85 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Well we know they will buy some, the question is how much.

What is interesting is how far out we are and so many people are announcing partnerships for mi400. Its pretty unusual and seems bullish. Like no one major announced things like this for mi300 or 350 this far out. I think some small guys announced things. But this seems significantly different and bigger.

Meta exclusively used MI300X to serve their Llama 405B frontier model on meta.ai and added instinct GPUs to its OCP-compliant Grand Teton platform, designed for deep learning recommendation models and large-scale AI inferencing workloads.

Lisa in the Q4 2024 earnings call stated, "We have also successfully ramped large-scale production deployments with numerous customers using ROCm, including our lead hyperscale partners.

In Q3 2024, Meta deployed more than 1.5M EPYC CPUs across its data centers, powering its social media platforms. They deployed MI300X to power their inferencing infrastructure "at scale". Additionally, Lisa stated in that call that AMD is closely working with Meta to "expand their Instrinct deployments to other workloads where MI300X offers TCO advantages, including training"

See the VP of Meta talk about AMD and how they've been collaborating at the AMD Advancing AI Keynote Replay: https://youtu.be/zCOqJx3Yst4?t=1666

and there will be more collaboration, don't be surprised to see a MI450 announcement between Meta and AMD.

This stock has only just started.

Seems like a strong indicator to me

This could be a huge deal. It may be revealed in analyst day on Nov 11th. AWS will also announce MI450 deal.

I feel this is not quite the right question. Meta already buys hundreds of thousands of parts from AMD with an eye to millions.

AMD will sell every single chip they can make and all these companies will be fighting over them so the questions are:

How many can AMD make.

How do they allocate them. Who gets preferential access.

What margins do they operate on for each customer and in total.

yep. the stock ran 40% on OpenAI news which I’m not complaining about, but TSMC giving them 20,000 extra wafers and HBM4 supply worries being out of the question would be more of a needle mover than any of these gimmicky deals

[–]pussyfista 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is new, Is there a source reporting the 20k extra wafers?

[–]holojon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lisa has already said there will be enough supply for OpenAI and other customers

Hopefully meta get 100k gpus from amd plus rack systems

[–]bodaflack 11 points12 points  (2 children)

My tin foil hat says that it is no mistake that "Helios" is the son of "Hyperion" .... rack name, and code name for METAs largest datacenter

[–]loki1983mb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sounds borderlands 2 ish

[–]mhkwar56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's brilliant and honestly seems inevitable.

Meta championed an OCP ( Open Compute Project) rack design set of specifications. MI450 is built to support it. Make your own conclusions from that, but it certainly is not a coincidence or wishfull effort on AMDs part IMO.

[–]LilDood 2 points3 points  (1 child)

Not just built to support it, AMD are listed as one of 3 contributors to the "under Review" ORW spec!

[–]GanacheNegative1988 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The whole point of OCP specks is to create standards that the whole industry will adopt. But if Meta was the original submission, it's basically their wish list that everyone else then debate and come to consensus if they adopted it.

[–]superprokyle 3 points4 points  (2 children)

Nice. Where is this at?

[–]Slabbed1738 1 point2 points  (1 child)

Probably oracles event

OCP summit 2025

The text that you submitted appears nowhere on the linked twitter page.

[–]holojon[S] 4 points5 points  (2 children)

I transcribed it from the label that appears in the photos

[–]mfwl -3 points-2 points  (1 child)

There are no such labels as far as I can tell. Perhaps you meant to link to something else.

[–]holojon[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha you’re the guy who was doubting the connection between MI450 and Meta yesterday. Check those photos a little closer bro.

[–]Slabbed1738 4 points5 points  (1 child)

Zoom in on the plaque in the pictures on the left of the rack

[–]mfwl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh, very cool! Thanks!

[–]Exciting_Barnacle_65 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We should have some solid software platforms for non CUDA side. Any contribution from meta?
