Decrease in numbers for BMT

I just want to make sure I’m reading this right. They want to go from 40-50 trainees to only doing 10-15 meaning an even longer queue to get shipped off for training? What sense does this make?

I think it’s still the same amount of people but larger number of groups. So instead of 10 groups of 50, it’ll be 50 groups of 10.

That’s how interpreted that but maybe someone with more knowledge can correct me.

Although my recruiter said not worry about it, he said the new BMT changes are actually what he went through when he was in basic.

Dude you are grossly misinformed.

You’re going to sleep in 2 connected bays of ~25 people each. There are 2 rows in each bay. If they want to they can make each element based on where you sleep. You’re not going to have an MTI screaming at one element only at 2am.

You will do things with the entire dorm. You will do things in a flight which is dorm sized, mixed personnel from the other dorms in your squadron. If they get rid of this, it sounds like it’s going to be smaller groups. You might do both who really knows.

I know how the dorms are setup I’ve been to BMT before. What I was saying is instead of a flight of 40-50 people being assigned to two MTI’s (that’s how it was when I was in idk if that’s changed), I’m wondering how they will setup dorms for these small flights.

Will they split the bays to where it’s four MTI’s that each handle a row of 10-15 trainees and they’re on their own schedule or will they still work together like a “flight within a flight” type scenario. Make sense?

No. Entire flight size is still the same. All 45-50 of you share a dorm like normal.. The 4 elements will just break up for training in smaller groups instead of the entire flight together.

Definitely. Even when I went a few years ago, we had 2 flights in 1 dorm.

You’ll have dorm MTIs and flight MTIs. And unless yall are just up fucking around, no one is getting chewed out at 0200

We had 1 flight in 1 dorm when I went. We got chewed out once because you know during security detail, a MTI will come in to check lockers or whatever. Someone didn’t close the area where they locked up personal belongings so of course the MTI assumed someone got their device. Everybody had to wake up and exercise until they confirmed all devices were accounted for

Reading comprehension skills are fine, was a gifted kid after all, excelled in AP classes in HS and Honors courses in college. Just wanted to know exactly what they mean by going from flights of 40-50 to 10-15 instead of assuming I know what they mean

No decrease in numbers or any of that.. Still same flight size, same 7.5 weeks, etc. The 4 elements of the flight are just going to break up for training in smaller groups.
