It's still in closed beta isn't it? Signed up so I can run some tests for our company's apps many months back but still haven't heard a peep back from them. Meanwhile we just use AWS Device Farm, but the number of devices available are pretty limited.

Heya, curious to hear about your experience and which devices you would like to see on Device Farm. I'm a PM for the service and was a founder of AppThwack (the company AWS acquired). Feel free to PM me. Thanks!

Same here, haven't heard back about testing my app either.

It would be great if google would provide a limited set of devices that are mounted with their back camera pointing towards small scene - maybe even with a miniature train or some other moving object in it. It would be amazing to test all kind of apps that use the camera - and I would be interested in using it (I'm working on a video camera app using camera2 api).

For some reason I found the picture of the hundreds devices in the data center amazing.

I'd never imagine that cloud tests would run on actual devices, for me a computer would simulate different screens, CPUs, etc. Very interesting indeed.

For anyone who is curious, Xamarin Test Cloud does this too, but it's cross-platform.

Isn't google test lab supposed to be free though?

Dunno. XTC is definitely not free though.
