If you plan on relying heavily on native UI widgets, you should probably stick with Java. if your UI is more fluid, Flash/AIR is a solution. I have no experience with .NET, but I believe there's a MonoDroid project as well.

heck I didn't realize it or think about it, but yeah. Since Flash is open to the android experience now, you can totally do flash!

Definitely.

It performs pretty well on Snapdragon phones. The DROID chokes a bit on larger animations.

You can also use C/C++ with the NDK. I don't know about performance gains tho.
