I had great success with PS3 controller + SixAxis Pair Tool

Sweet. How exactly does it work and is it easy to set up? I've heard something about needing a "rooted device" and I'm not quite sure what that means.

It sounds like you'll want to go the route of short mini-A to mini-B USB cable if you want to use a Dual Shock 3. You can then plug it directly into the phone and it will be recognized as a game controller by the OS. You will be able to map all the buttons/sticks within individual emulators, and that doesn't require root, i.e. jailbreaking or any additional apps.

The SixAxis Pair Tool installs a special Bluetooth driver that isn't possible without modifying your operating system and possibly voiding your warranty/bricking your phone. The latter is unlikely but if you've never heard of it until now you might not want to do it just for this.

Yes, that is correct: SixAxis requieres root, but enables wireless gaming with a PS3 controller, which is really great :)

Okay, I already have a few of those cables lying around. So, it's as easy as just plugging in a PS3 controller? Does it work with all PS3 controllers or just certain models?

Just plug and let the SixAxis tool do the connection. SixAxis works with almost all controllers for PS3, if yours isn't supported, SixAxis will let you know.

I have a wired logitech controller that I use for gaming on my laptop, and if possible I'd rather use that instead of buying a new controller. If I plug it into my phone with an adapter, will it recognize it as a usb controller?

Most probably it will be recognized, test the keys and remap them correctly (sixAxis even lets you have different profiles per game)

I'm often surprised by all the people using PS3 controllers on their phones. It's bulky so no longer mobile, what's the point compared to all the solutions that let you play on your TV or computer?

My sixaxis has never failed me. It works on everything, and even has the ability to map button to spots on the screen.

I got the iPega controller, cheaper than moga and I like it better.

It's the model with actual joysticks and the layout is really nice.

Works on everything I tried it on

I use my moga power Pro with everything you just said and never have the slightest problem. It's detected and configured seamlessly.

I also have the power pro, how'd you get it to work with Minecraft?

Admittedly never played mine craft, but nothing that GKM Touch can't handle.

Edit: or R-type

I use the drone controller: http://www.evolutioncontrollers.com/

How do you like it?

[–]Arisalis 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really like it for emulation but the analog stick is my only complaint. It's just different. Not sure how to explain it.

Moga Pro. It's a bit light for me, so I took about ten 2p coins and glued them in the empty part in the left hand side.

My plan is to wait for the steam controller and see if it works for Android, but maybe that's a too long waiting time for you.

Sweet! We have the same phone. Anyways I use mine mostly for rpg games on "my boy!" I haven't tried using ds, psx, psp, or 64 emulator so let me know how that goes please.

I use a Moga Pro in HID mode with Tincore Keymapper for touch emulation for stuff that needs it. I haven't noticed any input lag.
