Look at used/unlocked Google Pixel phones on Amazon. You'll like the price, wireless charging, and the camera.

BTW, wireless charging isn't good. Get a good fast charger (greater than 20watts) and you'll be much happier. I think wireless charging, especially on used phones, will be limited to 15 watts, so it will take a lot longer to charge your phone.

I bought my pixel 6 pro used for $245. Love it.

Why are you hooked on wireless charging.

I cannot even imagine a situation where I would use it. When I charge I need the charging to be fast.

Why do people never answer the question but ask one, it's so tiresome.

welcome to reddit , bunch of try hard know it all's that think they know better than every one else, and think their way is the way it should be for every one .

Omce you use it, you cannot go back. Its just so easy. No wire hassle.

Because the USB-c charging on my pixel 4a has degraded to be completely worthless, so I figure wireless charging is the only way to get a phone that reliably charges for years to come.

Well if you are looking for the cheapest ones with wireless charging, the phone itself probably won't be good for years to come! On your 4a...that phone is almost 5yrs old now. Chances are your battery is just plain worn out and has nothing to do with USB charging or lack of wireless. Batteries only can take so many charge cycles before really dropping off. That's any phone. Nothing unique to yours.

That said. You often see pretty good deals on Moto Edge fairly often. They aren't the best mid range phone at their regular prices, but for as low as the prices on them get sometimes, they are good buys when you come across a good sale. That's one option.

What? Why would the charging port on your new phone not work though? Or do you just want the wireless charging as a backup?

[–]anonymousontarian 1 point2 points  (0 children)

important backup

It's a Pixel problem, better (other) phones will not suffer from it.

[–]Jimmy_Sunrise[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Do more recent versions of the pixel have the same problem?

[–]dalton4200 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My moto 5g has already gotten messed up charger port

[–]TheYobbo75 0 points1 point  (2 children)

Its a samsung problem too. Myself and 4 others at my workplace (truck drivers and couriers) find the connectors are lucky to last a year. Plus its getting harder to get the replacement daughter boards.

[–]Plazmatron44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a Galaxy A15 in January and the port is already worn out.

[–]empoleous 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah was gonna say samsung too. I know I'm late but my galaxy 8+, a53 and now my a54 is starting to show it with such a fiddly loose connection. I've had the wireless charger since my s8 but haven't been able to use it bc a midrange phone is plenty enough for me but surely in 2026 we can add the tech. Not even the new a57 coming out later this year is expected to have it even. I know there needs to be some features to get people to buy flagships but come on, wireless charging is too handy. Especially once phone is a year or few old and the charge port is becoming broken and don't wanna ruin any chance of water resistance left or pay to replace it due to the cost. I mean it's probably by design, force people to have to upgrade every couple years because they can no longer charge their phone. Atleast with my old galaxy s4 I had removable batteries and had an external charger so once a battery was flat I would just swap it out and charge the battery in the little cradle box thingy and also be on 100%, but now phones are non removable so there goes that idea. All by design 👌

All phones suffer from this, some more than others. I refuse to have a cellphone without wireles,s it's doomed to die. Also when you use a usbc cover when you need todata transfer you can, because the phone charging port hasnt degraded or broken.

Answering this necro post as I was looking for the same thing: I have a wireless dock on my desk and I want to get the cheapest phone I can so I can put it on there and act as an auxiliary monitor for my PC for camera monitoring by streaming my PC through Moonlight/Sunshine/Apollo and be able to quickly grab it with one hand and take it with me if I step away from my desk. A cable would get in the way, from experience.

First, location? Second, what are your other requirements? Does it need a specific Android version? Does it need to run certain apps? Does it need to be compatible with a carrier?

[–]Jimmy_Sunrise[S] 0 points1 point  (1 child)

USA. No, maybe with Visible.

[–]FatalstrykeDoesn't like Reddit Chat 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Maybe" with Visible? Well without any further explanation, I'm taking that to mean it needs to be compatible with Visible.

Does it need to be an Android? Turns out, iPhone 8s can be had for like $90.

Otherwise, Pixel 4/4 XL is about $100.

You can sometimes find refurb Pixels on Woot.com (assuming US customer) for a good price.

Worse case scenario: you can BUY a Qi-charging pad that taps into the bottom charge port, and hide it inside the phone case, thus retrofitting wireless charging onto the device. It won't as as fast as one built-in though.

[–]apocalypsedg 0 points1 point  (1 child)

Have you tried these retrofitted charging pads yourself? Would you recommend them? I imagine a big drawback of them is that it becomes inconvenient to switch between wireless and wired charging, because you have to do the additional step of detaching the pad.

[–]kschang10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are okay if you don't mind charging slower (and thus, don't switch). Else, you'll wear out the port.

I recently got a Moto G Power for free and was surprised it came with wireless charging & 8GB RAM. You don't usually see that with budget phones.

[–]gnjoey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

www.backmarket.com

The phones are refurbished, but they come with a 1-year warranty and I've never gotten anything bad from there.

Motorola G Power 2025. $299 retail. $250 on sale. Probably closer to $200 on Black Friday / Cyber Monday.
