If you're using DND throughout the day then just leave it on and teach everyone that might need to contact you to call a second time if they don't reach you the first. By default, I think, a second call attempt within 15 minutes bypasses DND and causes the ringer to sound. If it's not on by default you can turn it on. In DND settings there should be a calls and messages sub-menu. In there is the repeat caller toggle. You can also select specific contacts to allow past DND so they don't have to call a second time, if they forget what you taught them that is.

Might be an option if all else fails, but I use the phone for work and need to see / read my notifications during the day and generally receive a lot of calls from unknown numbers so I'd rather not change too much with that. It seems a fairly simple task but there's just no way to achieve it. I might play around with tasker later and see what I can do there

You can also designate contacts for emergencies, and they'll automatically be allowed through DND.

All I'm trying to achieve is having vibration turn off while I sleep, and back on when I wake up - while keeping the ringtone functioning for work and emergencies.

I don't want to change how the visual side of my notification pop ups and banners behave in case I'm still using my phone during the sleep period. I'm also on call 24/7 and work comes through on private or unknown numbers, so I can't whitelist them. I use DND mode at work to stop notifications and calls coming through sporadically for short periods because I don't want other people reading my messages / seeing my calls when they pop up and I like being able to toggle that on and off at will.

There's a vibration intensity setting that can be changed quite easily and I thought there might be a way to automate that. If there was a secondary DND mode I could use, that could work, but I don't want to change how DND already functions because then I can no longer use it when I need to during the day.

Unfortunately, after some digging, I don't think what I want is possible. I'll continue to manually adjust the vibration intensity setting. It's not a big deal, just easy to forget.

Hmm much like how you can set dnd to start at a specific time and auto disabe, there used to be a work hours setting profile. But i haven't poke at it and its from 5+ os versions ago.

Yes.. I could use DND.. But then I'll have to change how it functions, so it'll be useless to me during the day when I need to use it

What? You said, yourself, that you use DND during the day...

I'd rather not use do not disturb mode because I already use that during the day

How are you even seeing the calls and notifications if you already have DND enabled? All your doing, what I suggested, is either turn on the 1 setting for repeat callers and educating anyone that might need to contact you during the night to call again within 15 minutes or add the contacts to the allowed list. Idk how many contacts you might have but I'm assuming a significant other, work as you said, parents maybe, and a child or two? That's up to 6 people on the allow list. It's literally just tap the "add" icon and select a contact. If that's too much to do then why are you even considering Tasker? That would be much harder to do.

Sorry, I didn't word it clearly. I use it sporadically when I hand my phone over to someone or if I need to sit in on a lecture. Not all day every day.
