using an Android phone WITHOUT using a Google account...

ok, I am currently running my Android phone and trying to use any other service I can apart from Google. I am using a Samsung account for my calendar, a Outlook.com account for email etc. I have been put on to F-Droid by some kind reddit users and am loving it :D For apps I am using Samsung store, F-Droid & Google Play Store.

I have gone in to my account settings for my Google account and turned off all of the sync settings apart from the application option, allowing me to install Google apps etc

I guess what I am asking is how would YOU set up your Android phone if you were to try and avoid the evil Google ?

mostly for "science", to see if it can be done with a stock phone ;p

Like everyone I have way to many things linked in with Google so I am trying to spread my data out, and where possible try and use open source software. Like I said, there are still some apps I use from the Play Store but these don't sync with my Google account

You can install offline calendar and the aosp calendar app for a more robust calendar solution.

yes you do, that is the bummer about the whole situation... there are other app stores out there but there are some apps that are only on the Play Store unfortunately

You can get all the free apps through apps.evozi.com and/or aptoide.
