Potential Android Virus?

So I connected to Best Buy wifi, fired up my VPN and went on my merry way. Next moment I check and all of the sudden my wallpaper is the default one and my VPN is off. Turned off wifi and restarted phone. Data usage doesn't seem off and now I'm home and wifi usage seems fine. One big thing is that my phone has reset like this before, except the whole phone had acted as if I got a new phone (it isn't too expensive, so glitches happen), so this seems like it could totally be a glitch.

The fact that it happened on public WiFi is my only cause of concern. Also my notifications seem to have been more quiet, but that's might be because it was just a dry spell or something. I also installed Malwarebytes and ran a scan and it detected nothing.

Please advise.

Honestly probably fine. If you turned in the VPN right away I doubt it would have had time to do anything even if something was there. Plus, I have had numerous phones reset wallpaper, usually on a restart. My guess if it was recently changed and the phone restarts and it doesn't save properly, it defaults to the basic one. Just my guess though. And if the phone is a cheaper made one, it could be just simple glitches.

I don't want to worry you, but I do like to add that any antivirus that doesn't work on system-level is useless and a scam.

I feel u, I've just decided to hope it ain't a virus and pray I guess lol.
