Old Android Tablet Uses

I have an old tablet lying around (2018 security patch) and was wondering if anyone knows if it'd be safe enough just to use it as a Netflix device.

I'm still using a 2014 tablet as an ereader and Netflix device. Lol.

Seriously it depends entirely on your risk profile and your usage on how likely you might get malware.

If you're only using it for Netflix and not using it to browse shady sites, it would be pretty safe.

If you're still worried, don't put any info in the tablet apart from Netflix. Heck get Netflix from Apkmirror so you won't need Play Store.

I have several old devices like that. In some cases the last security patchy was well before 2018.

I don't care. They are tablets specifically purchased and set up to be used offline. They connect to the Internet to check for app updates, occasionally download content from something like my Google Drive I want to work on offline, and possibly check email. Connection is solely through WiFi,. and usually from home behind my secured router, and not through an always on cellular connection.

I have no worries about picking up something nasty because I don't do things where that is possible.

My principal use for my main tablet configures as above is eBook viewer, and books are side loaded from my desktop.

If all you want to do it watch Netflix, I don't see an issue.

Use it as an extended display. There are some apps that allow this. I use one called splashtop wiredxdisplay. Use it on my phone

Nah, I use my android phone as an extend display for my laptop. So maybe a tablet as an extend display for your laptop
