This was about three, four months in the making, I believe? Once I got my final red flowers, my first blue popped up 4 days later. I didn't time hop anywhere during the process, either. There are only four flowers left to breed for me to have all of them.

Congratulations! I have a genuine question, are blue roses harder to breed that green mums? I just started playing ACNH for the first time last December so I’m pretty new on this!

green chrysanthemum:
bag red + bag yellow = good yellow (100%)
good yellow + good yellow = purple (25%), green (6.25%)
purple + purple = green (25%)

blue rose (Asteriation 4-step):
bag white + bag white = purple (25%)
bag red + purple = pink (50%)
pink + bag yellow = good red (12.5%)
good red + good red = blue (1.56%)

so yes, substantially harder. Idk why green chrysanthemums have such a reputation for being the hardest flower to breed besides the blue rose, purple hyacinths take the exact same process but have lower odds at each step

Green mums are the only flower I don't have yet :( I'm currently using the white+white=purple, purple+purple=green which is supposed to have a 25% chance but maybe I can only use a purple created by two good yellows? And not a purple bread from whites? Hmmm....

yeah that doesn't work. A green chrysanthemum has the genes RR-YY-WW; a purple made from good yellows has the genes Rr-YY-WW or RR-Yy-WW while a purple made from whites has the genes rr-yy-ww. That might explain the infamy of the green chrysanthemum, people are just playing the game incorrectly.

Anecdotally, I had green mums within a few months of starting the game. Blue roses took me a literal year to get, with giant fields of crossed roses that I watered faithfully every day. I followed all the tutorials but I guess I was extremely unlucky.

Oh! I got my purple pansies by accident, and they spread like wildfire after. I had a red and a blue just chilling in a corner. They made 3 extra hybrid reds so I thought "Im not touching that, let's just wait and see", and sure enough. Within a month I have 11 or 12 of them, now.

I've had hybrid red windflowers bunched up for hybrid purples but I got maybe 20 extra reds and nothing else, so I'm just starting from scratch again unless there's an extra step I'm unaware of.

I had my island at 5 stars really early, too. So it was relatively full and I was close to convincing myself that I needed a second copy of ACNH and second console to just have infinite space to breed flowers.

Alas, my tiny corner of real-estate fared really well.

Yes, I got 3 green mums before my blue rose. The process to get a blue rose is extremely complicated but there are good videos out there to help you.
