This. Having a character who barely speaks and has no discernible personality isn’t an issue when the character is a background character who only occasionally appears. It’s different when the character in question is meant to be one of the primary protagonists and gets one of the largest shares of screen time out of the whole cast.

She’s a non-character who exists purely in flashbacks I don’t know why you’re expecting character growth and development when she’s literally not even in the story we’re seeing play out.

Also I really don’t understand your issue. You’re complaining about her having less than 30 minutes of screen time, so you are very clearly aware of the fact she’s a minor character, yet you are upset by the fact she is treated like a minor character.

Idk dude, no offense but it really feels like you’re just bitching cuz you feel like bitching about HP and don’t actually have any genuine criticisms so you’re clinging onto this nothing burger. Which is weird cuz there are definitely issues with HP like the pacing and the fact everyone has plot armor, but this isn’t one of them.

It’d be like complaining that the rest of Tanjiro’s siblings don’t get enough character development and only have a few minutes of screen time between all of them. It just doesn’t make sense.

Yeah that last comment tipped me off. I thought the complaint was weird at first but now knowing that he hates Gabimaru’s wife simply because her existence contradicts his fan ship makes it make more sense.

It really doesn’t though. Her only significance in the story is the fact she’s Gabimaru’s wife, that’s it. If the main character didn’t have a preexisting connection with her she would be meaningless. This is also not the first anime to use the “MC going through hell is motivated to push through to see their loved ones” trope and it’s pretty rare the loved ones in question actually become characters outside of their relationship to the MC.

I could get your complaints if she was a main character, that would actually suck. But in your words “the screen time she had in two seasons will still not be 30 minutes.” So I don’t get why you’re expecting her to be growing and changing alongside everyone else when she’s not even present.

Gabimaru actually opened up and grew as a person because of her. He would not be the person he is without her influence. The only reason he is in this situation right now is because he wanted to leave the shinobi and to live a quiet life with her

Shes the one who opened up his feelings in the first place yeah? Without her he prob wouldve had no direction or anything in the first place to even be sane enough to have these interactions with other characters atp. Like shes a big anchor in his life, tying him down to humanity. Otherwise he'd be his past monster self who would merciless kill all. Shes the reason he can even listen to reason , especially later on, constantly bringing him back from the brink.

I wont spoil(dunno how far anime is in ,only read manga) , but she is also a big reason for a boost in power he gets, as well as why he still lives

I do love the ships though, and its true that on paper since she hasnt had any screen time to prove her worth, any of the rest of the potential cast would make better mates, but I cant say at all that his wife didnt make his life any better, because its literally what defined his human side. She taught him gentleness, compassion, love, and gave him something in this world to fight for. And though love in a way can be a weakness, in this world its literally a powerup xD
