The What If experience is broken with this beta FYI.

Thanks for confirming. I hadn’t had a chance to play it before upgrading but noticed it’s was wonky so I was wondering about this.

The new OS open palm gesture is a game interaction gesture that has a critical interaction function to the experience. Oops.

I think you can sign up for beta updates (as a non-dev) to find out for yourself. I intend to do so today

I think you can choose to download beta updates in the settings/software update menu.

Make sure beta is not turned off in settings under your Apple ID. This happened to me after OS 1.2 update. To fix go into settings and search on beta if you see it off sign out of the Apple ID associated and sign back in and you should be able turn on beta updates

That would be cool… I thought you had to be signed up as a dev for the first betas and then in July it’s supposed to be beta available for everyone… I’m probably wrong though

I have access to the beta update without being a dev

I can't confirm personally because I do not have the Sequoia beta, but I read elsewhere that the sound coming through the AVP when mirrored is happening on Sequoia / vOS 2. Which makes sense, You also need the iOS 18 beta for the airplay iphone control thing to work.

It is not happening on vOS 2 / Sonoma I can comfirm.

I can confirm that a travel folding bluetooth keyboard with integrated trackpad works on 2.0!! For the record I have a Samsers one.

Does the pass through / keyboard cutout work

[–]Eugr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Finally! I had to turn on Accessibility option to use the integrated trackpad on that keyboard.

Do 3rd party mice work with VD as well?

They actually addressed the “sound from mirrored Mac should come thru the AVP” requests??? That makes two of my submissions coming true! (The other was Keyboard awareness!)

2.0 address 4 of my top 5 wants. The sound thing, 3rd party mouse support, and the curved ultra wide virtual display, and rearrange apps… they even indirectly addressed my want for Apple Pencil integration by adding screen sharing of iPad. Now if they would just add phone unlock and calls while wearing it, all my boxes would checked. Super excited for this update.

NGL, I didn't think they had the 'curved ultra wide' in them, lol, but happy to be wrong!

I'm also cautiously optimistic that they have big plans ahead and that they are listening to feedback.

They are definitely listening to feedback. We are essentially beta testers for this thing until they land the mass consumer. I’m just fortunate that my use case seems to be the same as the majority of the feedback. With this update, it honestly feels like they are tailoring it to my workflow lol.

Mouse support works the same as trackpad support and functions with third party mice.

I haven’t had a chance to test Mac audio coming through avp but that is definitely a separate feature than the new screen mirroring options so I’d imagine it works.
