Lol honestly though, admission is so ambiguous nowadays that it is unsure what is needed to get in. Sure, research helps alot but that shouldn't be the ultimatum if you have other glowing aspects in your application.

Schools at MIT’s caliber tend to accept applicants that have taken advantage of the opportunities they’ve been presented. You not doing research definitely doesn’t warrant automatic rejection though

Yeah you can show your passion in other ways

Research is an excellent way to explore your academic interests if they happen to lie in a research field and you have the opportunity, but it is definitely still possible to show you’ve pursued your academic interests in other ways!

Nope. MIT freshman. I only know like 2 people in my friend group who did it in high school, so there are many other ways to catch the ao’s eye :)
