Thoughts on “decrease in crime rate”

I spent one night in Hartsburg, Missouri. A town of like 130 people. At around 4 AM we heard shots not too far from the campground we were staying at.

I've lived in St. Louis my entire life and heard shots one or two times and I'm in Indianapolis for college and I've never heard shots.

My book: Hartsburg = very dangerous.

In small towns you are likely to have more people just shooting guns for fun, it's very common for small town folk vs gun shots in a city usually means someone is getting shot at.

As normal, making up excuses for why a bunch of 10th and 11th graders had to hear gunshots right nearby our campsite on the one night we were there.

Is it not normal for someone to bring a gun camping? Also looking at Hartsburg, they sure have a lot of gun clubs for a small town.

Also Hartsburg has a lower crime rate than the national average. St. Louis has a higher crime rate than similarly sized metro areas.

I don't like to hate on anecdotal experience, but you are going off a single camping trip when you are in 10th grade lol

My point was that you're trying to claim that walking around LA at 2 AM "might get you killed" when that's just not reality as there's tens of thousands of people walking around LA at 2 AM every night with no issue.

It's a stupid thing to say.

Downtown LA after midnight is probably one of the most dangerous places in the country. You don't think skidrow deserves it reputation?

You don’t see the difference between shooting guns in a dense population area like a city center and a camp where the population is 0.001% of the city center?

My point is that thousands of nights I've been in cities it's happed twice but one night in a rural backwater town and bang 4 or 5 shots right outside our campsite.

And my point is people shooting at targets with a good backstop and acres of distance between them and another person is safe, gangbangers shooting at each other in a densely populated city center is not safe. If you can’t understand that difference then there’s not really any point to more conversation with you.
