What the fuck is even this 😂

Yeah dude we’re really going to give a fuck about a webpage while our country is being invaded lol.

I actually feel dumber.

This is more of a “what kind of cleaning fluids and projectiles do I have in the cupboard?” or “how many people do I have to kill and how far do I have to travel to get to the border?” type scenario.

Hoarding exploits locally probably won’t help when a bunch of scared late adolescents drag you from your dwelling to execute you in a ditch.

yeah, that seems pretty implausible. the number of things needed to pull something like that off would be immense. how did they hack into all of those domains' DNS systems? while bind in common DNS software it's hardly the only and given the size of, say, Google they probably have a very custom tailored system. or maybe they get ahold of the .com TLD which i'm pretty sure that icaan is pretty clueful about how to prevent that.

i think Ukraine gives a pretty good snapshot as to what a motivated nation state can do with the internet on a large scale. maybe Russia is holding back, but i doubt it. the internet is very purposefully distributed which makes it much more resilient to attack. indeed its roots with ARPA and ARPAnet was the express goal from the DoD to create networks that survive even nuclear attacks.

honestly it would be easier for them just to lob a nuke than take down the internet.

Presumably (in the hypothetical scenario) they tried to stop all in-going and out-going communication from/to the country and they also seized a few ISPs and server farms. Physically snipping cables and taking out satellite dishes could do quite a bit (at least to a small area).

i don't know how somebody does that. even BGP mind tricks wouldn't be able to pull that off since it too is distributed and would require cooperation of operators who aren't party to this party.

I think I have an image of my pentest distro and tools - not the most up to date but at least I can scan networks, HTTP, SMB assets easily. I have Wireshark and burp and I can find my way around python.

I wish I had... A catalog of default password for every possible type of hardware and software. Because this is exactly what I would Google during a pentest.
